I think the third -in back - is playing Macy? But you are exactly right, Es. I am not familiar with any of them. And the closest two look very alike (which is a good thing for sisters). It'll be a Latina family. And seems to be, with the EOd, it may actually serve as some plot.

Is there a single writer on this show that worked on the original charmed or is it all new writers? As far as we're aware, not a soul from Classic Charmed is involved with this project. Though, now I kind of wish Constance M. Burge would be involved somehow. |

I love seeing more members calling the original show "Classic Charmed". I really do hope that catches on.
Maybe we should rename our site The Classic Charmed Cafe.

Here's some details about filming in the area for the pilot. I guess they're also using the Witches of East End house as the exterior for the show. Interesting they decided to recycle the Witches of East End house as the exterior. Funny, I thought the WOED house was supposed to be a nod to Charmed since it looked similar but different. But this is just budget reasons. Because someone a long time ago told me the Luthor Mansion from Smallville was reused as the mansion for Arrow. So it's just cost cutting and reusing stuff from other shows filmed in Canada. I'm curious if the reboot will be filming in locations that Witches of East End shoot in when it filmed in Vancouver. If the reboot is set in a college town, maybe the sets will be using stuff from this show. Who knows really? From Melonie Diaz's instagram account Look at this picture (well, the picture in JasonC's post - I SO hate how Proboards handles quoting stuff!) and tell me if you didn't know who was who (I don't), would you be able to tell which actress is actually half-black? I couldn't. They all look Latina to me and I think they're going to play a Latina family even if only one of them has Latin in her heritage. Me too Es. I literally couldn't tell them apart. I'm hoping that as the show progresses that each sister has a different hairstyle. At least with Classic Charmed, I liked that each sister's hairstyle was different. Well since I think the writers of Jane the Virgin wrote for Latina people, then that is what this reboot will be. Maybe. |

If they are going to keep the Charmed name then they should be ready for a lot of backlash from classic charmed fans if it ends up being nothing like the original. It would almost be better for them to change the name.

It's a reboot so of course it's going to be different except the premise of the show : three sisters having powers and being the most powerful witches. They also kept the house and book of shadows. But the rest should be different since, again, it's a reboot, not a remake. The only name change I can see happening is if they called it "Charmed : ****" like the 24 reboot was called "24 : Legacy". |

I hope so too dears. The Sabrina reboot is going by a different name from Sabrina the Teenage Witch to The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
I hope they take note of Sabrina and do the same changing the show name slightly with adding something to it. If they took Charmed completely out from the title, which I doubt, I'd be *even* happier.

At least Sabrina is based on the comics and doesn't appear to be a reboot the show. Can't say the same about this one. Straight up ripping Charmed.

Harder to judge. Sabrina's on Netflix and Charmed's on CW. Different metrics. And typically, Netflix is a release-at-once, binge "network."

That's right dear, they are a little different.
I have a feeling Sabrina might be more critically praised, I guess because Netflix productions I always hear are getting raved about more. I don't have Netflix, so I don't know if the quality is better than Network television. Just I constantly hear chatter about how much better Netflix is at producing shows.
Makes me wonder if the Charmed reboot ever goes ahead if Sabrina ended up on The CW as originally planned?

Sabrina is based on a Sabrina comic iteration that has a dark tone. That's the name of comics actually. Be it on CW/Netflix Sabrina, would've kept that Chilling Adventures name. CW will not do that different name thing. They didn't with Dynasty. Sabrina is also getting some backlash especially from casual folks who was only familiar with that sitcom show and never bothered to read any of her comics. Not as bad as Charmed. Either way CW will not be fazed by any backlash. They dealt with far more before. |

I knew it was based on the comics, but not that the comics had that title too. Charmed seems to be having the major backlash. But it won't stop CW from doing what they want to do. It isn't extreme like Charmed. I've seen some articles where the old Sabrina cast is supportive of the reboot and the casting of the new people. Not anything we have seen with Classic Charmed's cast doing that for the reboot. |
