This part took place at the end of Magic Hour:
In the living room of the manor, Leo stood next to the ghost of Grams in a suit. “Girls, your high priestess is waiting, unfortunately the eclipse is not. Now let’s move it,” Grams said, and she waved her hand towards the CD player and wedding music started playing. “That would be your cue, maids of honor.” Prue and Phoebe, who were all dressed up, started walking down the stairs in smiles. They stopped at the bottom and looked up to see Piper starting to walk down the stairs in a beautiful light blue dress, and she’s holding a bouquet of flowers. When Leo saw her, he couldn’t help but smile. Piper stopped at the bottom of the stairs, and looked at Leo, and they smiled at each other. “You look beautiful,” Prue said to her as they started walking into the living room. “I know it’s not exactly how you wanted it.” “But it’s exactly what I wanted,” Piper said, smiling again at Leo as she stepped in front of him. All of the sudden, Leo and Piper both started jerking uncontrollably, light surrounded them, and they orbed out. “What happened?” Phoebe asked, her face showing concern. “I think that we were found,” Prue said quietly.

And I would have added a summary, but I haven't thought of one yet. I'll do one now, so it won't be so good.
The Elders forbid Piper and Leo from ever seeing each other again, and niether of them were ever allowed to return to San Francisco ever again. But, something happens to Piper that, at the same time, makes her life harder yet more bearable.
That wasn't that good, but I didn't want to give too much away. Sorry about that being late, this is my first fan fic that I put on the Internet.

It'll start to piece together now, I think.
Leo and Piper appeared in a heap on a marble floor in a chamber. They looked up, and saw a long, marble table and 6 or so elder beings standing behind it. They were in front of the Elders. “What did we tell you? We warned you,” the head Elder boomed furiously. “Do you have anything to say for yourself?” Piper and Leo stayed silent, afraid to say anything. “You will stayed locked up, and we shall decide what your punishment shall be.” Four whitelighter guards grabbed Leo and Piper roughly, and practically dragged them into a small room. They were thrown onto the hard floor, and the whitelighters slammed the door shut, and they were left alone. “What’s going to happen?” Piper asked shakily. “I don’t know,” Leo said back to her. “Can’t you orb out?” Piper asked. “These chambers were meant to protect against magic. There is no way that we can get out,” he said, looking at Piper. “I’m scared, Leo, I can’t imagine what they’ll do,” Piper said, a tear falling down her face. Leo pulled her into a gentle, comforting hug, and kissed her lips softly. She kissed him back, and they started kissing passionately. The rest of that night can be left to the imaginative minds.

CharmedFan12 Charmed Cafe Member Posts: 320 (5/26/03 6:40 pm) Reply Here you go. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next morning, the two of them were brought back into the Chamber of the Elders. “We have decided your fate. You two shall be separated, and sent from each other, never to see one another again, and neither of you shall return to San Francisco ever again,” the head Elder said. “What? You’re sending me away from my family?” Piper asked in disbelief. “You both have disobeyed our rules, and both of you shall pay the consequences.”
“So you’re willing to split up the Power of Three because you wish to see us suffer so much?” Leo asked in disbelief. “Yes,” the Elder said simply. “Because we don’t have the right to watch over Piper, we shall watch Leo, and if you even try to see each other, or if you try to return to San Francisco, you shall suffer from our unspeakable wrath like we warned.” “How can you be so heartless?” Piper asked, with tears falling down her face. “You will leave today, don’t even bother going home. Your belongings will be sent to you. And as for you, Leo, all of your charges in San Francisco will be reassigned to a new whitelighter,” he said. “Now, go.” The whitelighters came up again and tore Leo and Piper out of each other’s reach.
That day, Piper was brought to a small city in southern Utah, and left there without a car, and without a place to live. That day, she was more or less in denial of what had happened, she wasn’t sure it was all real, even though she knew it was. Because she had no place to stay, she took out some money from her account, and stayed in a motel for a few days. In those days, all she was able to do was cry, she barely even ate; she had lost everything in just hours. She lost her family, the love of her life, everything, all because those stupid Elders were so content in making her suffer. Well, they succeeded.

But before then, she had to live there for a week with the same blue dress that kept reminding her of Leo, day after day. When the visitor arrived in her room in the motel, Piper did not welcome her with open arms. She knew that she was a whitelighter. “What do you want?” Piper asked, furiously. “I came to bring you your stuff…” the young looking whitelighter said cautiously. “And I’m going to be your whitelighter.” The whitelighter was obviously on the quiet and shy side. She had red hair, and was thin. “I don’t need a whitelighter…Just Leo.”
“I’m sorry about Leo, Piper. I want you to know that I was rooting for the two of you,” she said with a small smile. “Well, it didn’t matter,” Piper said bitterly. “I know it doesn’t mean anything to you coming from me, but I just wanted you to know that.” Piper didn’t say anything for a while, just stood there. “Thank you,” Piper whispered. The whitelighter walked over and gave a comforting hug, and Piper broke down right there. She didn’t know how long she cried, but the whitelighter still stayed, comforting her.
Every morning after that, she vomited. She figured it was because of the depression that she was in. Sarah, her whitelighter, stayed by her side every morning for support. Even the morning when she took a pregnancy test. “Oh, no,” Piper said. “It’s positive. You can’t tell the Elders, Sarah, please don’t!”
“I won’t,” Sarah said. “What am I supposed to do?” Piper asked, starting to cry. “How can I raise a child all by myself?”
“You won’t have to do it by yourself, Piper. I’ll help,” Sarah said. “You will? What about the Elders?” “They won’t know. I won’t tell them,” Sarah said, with a friendly, comforting smile. “Thank you, Sarah, thank you so much…” Piper said as she hugged her whitelighter.

CharmedFan12 Charmed Cafe Member Posts: 324 (5/30/03 10:31 pm) Reply Here ya go, guys. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry, again. Forgive me? At the manor, things weren’t going very well either. “I still can’t believe that they would take our own sister away! And Leo!” Phoebe cried in anger and sadness. “They won’t even let us see her! Call her even! They’re punishing us just as much as they are them!” “I know, sweetie, I know,” Prue said, trying to comfort her younger sister. They also had received a new whitelighter, a man named Robert, who looked to be around early forties. He rarely ever came to the manor, when he did, it only involved the supernatural. Occasionally, when he did come over, Phoebe or Prue would try and bug him for information about Piper or Leo, but he never told them anything. They didn’t know if he knew something and wasn’t telling them, or if he truly didn’t know anything, but they still badgered him anyway whenever they saw him. They both became depressed without their sister, but were able to stay strong because they had each other. Piper and Leo, on the other hand, weren’t as lucky. Leo found a shabby, old, deserted apartment in New York that he stayed in. That was where he lived. Every night, he dreamed about Piper, and he wished that he could just see her, talk to her again. But he knew that it would be impossible. Not only did he have to think that every day, he felt responsible. If he never fell in love with her, and visa versa, then he would never had asked her to marry him, even if it was the only way for them to be together. Now, Piper couldn’t even see her sisters again, let alone him. God, he missed her. He tried to remember every memory that he could of her, and the most vivid of all of those were their last night together. And that’s the last that he would probably ever see of her again. Leo even tried asking if he could clip his wings. If he did, he could go to Piper and there was nothing that the Elders could do about it. The Elders knew of this logic, and refused his offers of retirement. So, in other words, he was stuck as a whitelighter for the rest of eternity without any of the people that he loved. Everyday, he wished that the Elders had just killed him instead of making him go through all of this pain everyday. david Charmed Cafe Member Posts: 6 (5/30/03 11:39 pm) Reply Re: Here ya go, guys. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sarcasm my friend, sarcasm. Aurora Charmed Cafe Member Posts: 223 (5/31/03 11:19 am) Reply You are doing well -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a good story. However, if this follows Magic Hour, splitting up the power of three at that point would have been a disaster. The elders just made Cole's job a lot easier. But from the looks of it, your story won't be exploring that. CharmedFan12 Charmed Cafe Member Posts: 325 (5/31/03 12:03 pm) Reply -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh, gotcha, david! Nope, Aurora. It's just one of those things where when you make a story, it just doesn't work out for you. CharmedFan12 Charmed Cafe Member Posts: 327 (6/3/03 12:43 am) Reply Update!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Piper began writing letters to Leo and her sisters. When she did, she asked Sarah if she could take them the letters, but she said that she wasn’t allowed to. She was forbidden to even speak to Leo, because she was her whitelighter. Even though Piper knew that the letters would never get to Leo or her sisters, she continued writing them, everyday, and it became her journal. She would write in the letters everything that happened to her. In her first letter, she wrote about five pages in both of the letters, and wrote about the fact that she was pregnant. Everyday after that, she would write to them as if they had read that letter. So, she wrote about her day to day struggle, all of the pain she felt, and anything else that had happened to her. Piper knew that she needed a permanent place to live, so she rented a small, two-bedroom apartment. She didn’t like it that much, but it worked. Until her baby would need the extra room, it served as a guestroom when Sarah stayed over. Sarah became a really good friend. Piper could tell her anything, and she would always listen. Sarah stayed by her side every morning, when she would get sick. Occasionally, though, she would have to go off on a trip, and Piper would have to stay alone for a couple weeks at a time, but Piper handled it. The hardest thing, though, is when Piper received her exploding power. The Powers That Be gave them to her so that she would be able to defend herself in case any demons found her. But, with raging hormones and messed up emotions, it took her a long time, and a lot of furniture, before she got a handle on it. But Sarah made sure to help her through it. PLEASE review people!!! I have three parts this time instead of two, so I hope you enjoy them! Piper also needed a job; the money in her savings would not last forever. So, she got a job as a cook in a small restaurant in town after she was able to control her powers. She knew that the job would be temporary, and she’d only have it a few months until her child was born. Then, she couldn’t go to work, so there was no point getting a good job that she would just eventually quit. So, Piper tried to move on with her new life. It was hard, and the only friend she had was Sarah. Piper wasn’t the nicest person there at her work, and she found no reason to be nice. So, she didn’t make any friends there. And nobody in her apartment complex ever talked to her, because she never talked to any of them. So, all in all, she became lonely. The only person she had was Sarah, and sometimes she felt like she was only there because she was her whitelighter, but Sarah denied that. One day, when Piper was about eight months along in her pregnancy, a new neighbor moved in next door to Piper. The lady, who was more on the older side, started talking to another neighbor. “Who lives there?” the old woman asked the neighbor, pointing to Piper’s door. “Some woman, she never talks to anyone, I see her sometimes going to work. She’s pregnant, but she doesn’t seem to have a husband or even a boyfriend. She probably just got knocked up somewhere and the guy ditched her,” the other lady said while she smoked a cigarette. “Oh, the poor dear,” the old woman said. “Lately, though, she hasn’t been leavin’ her house, my guess is she quit her job or somethin’.”
“Maybe I should go and see her,” the lady, whose name was Betty, said. “I’d advise against it,” the woman said. “The Johnson’s, who live under her, say that there are weird noises like explosions coming from her apartment. I can’t figure out what she could be doing in there, though,” she added, walking away. Tell me what you think!!! Later that day, Betty came up to Piper’s door with a plate of cookies in her hand. When the door opened, Piper stood there with dark circles under her eyes and her eyes themselves showed someone who was hurting, and Betty knew it. “Hi, my name’s Betty, I moved in next door, and I though I’d come by and meet you,” she said with a smile as she handed Piper the plate of cookies. “Thank you,” Piper said somewhat hoarsely, because she didn’t talk that much. “Please, come in. I’m Piper, by the way.” Betty stepped inside and they walked over to the couch, and sat down. “This, uh, is a very nice place that you have here,” Betty said, looking around. Piper laughed. “No, it’s not. It’s just what I can afford,” she said. Piper felt rather uncomfortable talking to this woman, because she never really talked to anyone besides Sarah. “So, do you know if it’ll be a boy or a girl?” Betty asked, looking at Piper’s stomach. “Huh? Oh, um, I’m pretty sure it’ll be a girl,” Piper said, putting her hand on her stomach, remembering the daughter that she saw in the future. “Do you have any kids?” Piper asked lamely, unsure of what to say. “Yes, I do. Two of them, but they’re probably about your age, if I guess rightly. And I’m a widow, my husband died about nine years ago.”
“Oh, I’m sorry…” Piper began, but Betty just smiled. “Don’t be!” she said with a chuckle. “So, tell me, what about the father?” she asked, kindly. “He, uh, died,” Piper said half truthfully, looking down at her hands. “A long time ago. We were going to get married, when he was taken from me.” Betty looked at Piper with sympathy, and put her hand on Piper’s. “Well, I understand. If you ever want to talk, remember that I’m right next door,” Betty said, picking up her jacket. “Thanks,” Piper said with a thankful smile. “You’re welcome here any time.” Betty smiled, glad that the woman didn’t guard herself against her, which she had apparently done with many other people. Betty left, thinking about the lonely person that lived next door.
Over the next couple weeks, Betty came over just about every day, and she and Piper got to know each other pretty well. Piper told her everything about Leo and her sisters, well, everything about them that did not include the family secret, or anything else supernatural. Betty even met Sarah. Piper said that Sarah was her cousin that lived nearby. Betty told Piper about her family, and why she moved there to Utah. Betty became a sort of motherly kind of friend to Piper that she never had before.

They were sitting on the couch, drinking tea, when the demon shimmered in. “Hello, witch. Am I interrupting?” he said with a smirk. “What do you want?” Piper asked impatiently, struggling to get to her feet. “I want the honor that I would get for killing a Charmed One, and your child,” the demon said. “Okay, first of all, the Charmed Ones are no more, so there is no point. And my baby isn’t even born yet,” Piper said. Betty sat on the couch, silent, confused and scared at the same time. “But I will still will get all the glory that I deserve.”
“I’ll show you what you deserve,” Piper said threateningly. The demon bared his dog-like teeth at her and formed an energy ball. As he threw it at her, she threw out her hands and the demon blew up, but Piper couldn’t get out of the way of the energy ball in time, and she was thrown into a table, and splinters went flying everywhere. Betty covered her face from the splinters, but none of them hit her. She saw Piper, in obvious pain, trying to sit up. She ran over to her and tried to help her up. “What was that, Piper?” she asked, shakily. Piper sighed, and groaned as she sat up. “That…was a demon,” she said sadly. “I’m a witch, and I’m destined to kill those guys.” Betty just sat there, next to Piper, for a good minute or so, thinking, before she looked at Piper again. “You know, Piper, I knew that you had your secrets, but, I-I never expected anything like this, to tell you the truth.”
“I know. And you don’t need to be around this stuff, you shouldn’t be around this stuff. I’d completely understand if you never wanted to come over here again, or talked to me,” Piper said, dolefully. “Don’t be silly, Piper. That would be a silly reason to ever leave,” Betty said. “Oh, no, you’re bleeding,” she said, looking at a big cut on Piper’s forehead. She pulled a handkerchief out of her pocket and was just about to wipe away the blood when a yellowish light came out of her wound and magically healed it. Betty gasped and pulled her hand away. “My baby can heal me,” Piper said. Her eyes started to glass up as she continued. “Leo…he…he could heal people. He was like, a guardian angel for me and my sisters.”
“Are-were you the Charmed Ones that the-the demon was talking about?”
“Yeah, and not by choice, either.”
“What exactly are the Charmed Ones?” Betty asked, curiously. “The most powerful witches of all time, protectors of the innocent,” Piper said with a sigh. “But it doesn’t matter anymore, the Charmed Ones don’t exist, and if demons didn’t come barging into my life every day, I’d say screw it to magic. But I don’t have a choice. You saw it for yourself,” Piper ranted, angrily. “Why do you hate magic so much?” Betty asked. “Because magic was the thing that took Leo away.” Piper started to cry, and Betty held her comfortingly. “Come on, why don’t you get into bed? You could use some rest,” Betty said, and she helped Piper to her feet. “Oh, god,” Piper whispered as she started walking towards her bedroom when she stopped cold. “What’s wrong?” Betty asked in a concerned tone. “My water just broke.”

“Oh, god,” Piper whispered as she started walking towards her bedroom when she stopped cold. “What’s wrong?” Betty asked in a concerned tone. “My water just broke.”
“Sarah! Sarah!” Piper cried to the ceiling. “Come on, I need you!” Sarah orbed into the room and Betty gasped in surprise. “Piper…” Sarah began, looking at Betty uncertainly. “It’s okay, she knows…A demon came in…attacked…” Piper said, breathing hard. She screamed in pain as a contraction hit her. “Piper, we need to get you to the hospital. Betty, do you have a car?” Sarah asked. “No, I didn’t need one,” Betty said. “If only we had my car,” Piper said with a fake laugh. “Come on, let’s orb,” Sarah said, talking Piper’s arm. “Stay here, Betty…” Piper started. “Let me come.” Sarah nodded, giving in, and held Betty’s hand as they orbed out. They appeared in a deserted part of the hospital. 6 hours later, Piper heard her baby’s piercing scream for the first time. “Congratulations, Ms. Halliwell, it’s a girl,” the doctor said with a smile as he handed Piper her daughter. Piper cried in happiness, with a smile on her face that wasn’t seen since her last day with Leo and her sisters, when she was standing before Leo. Sarah and Betty found this expression with Piper foreign, and that was when it hit them how special this all really was. They stood on either side of her bed, and admired Piper and her daughter. “What are you going to name her?” Betty asked, smiling. “Melinda, Melinda Patricia,” Piper said through her tears. “Patricia for my mom.”
“That’s a beautiful name, Piper,” Sarah said, also smiling. “For a beautiful child,” Betty added. “She is…” Piper said, laughing through her tears. “If only Leo were here…”
A couple weeks later, Piper and Betty were sitting, talking over a meal Betty made in Piper’s apartment, and Melinda was sleeping in her mother’s arms. “So, Leo doesn’t even know about your daughter?” Betty asked. Piper shook her head and looked down at her sleeping daughter. “No, the Elders took him away before I even knew. And I can’t talk to him, at all. Or my sisters. It’s my punishment.”
“You know, dear, I don’t understand why you are being punished for loving someone. When William, my husband, died, I thought I was being punished. But really, it had nothing to do with me, only him,” Betty said. “But this is not the same type of thing. I understand that we broke their stupid rules, but I don’t think that is any reason from never letting me see any of the people that I love ever again.”
“Well, it really isn’t fair. But, if you hope, maybe they will let you see your family again. And Leo.”
“I guess that’s the only thing I can do, hope,” Piper said, sadly. “Well, be thankful for what you have. I mean, you have Melinda now.”
“Yeah, you’re right. She’s the best thing in my life, and the only thing that I have left of Leo.”
“Have you ever tried to call your sisters?” Betty asked after a long pause. “Yeah, but there was some weird static every time I tried to call. I’m guessing the Elders have some kind of magic block against it. I hate them so much!” Piper said angrily. “Sometimes I think that all they do is try to ruin people’s lives.” Betty said nothing, and she set out the food that she had cooked.
Leo found it extremely difficult to find the strength to move forward. His heart was broken and the Elders only crushed it more. He knew that he couldn’t stop and give up, though. No matter how much he wanted to. He hated the Elders, but there was nothing that he could do anymore. Other people’s lives were in his hands. And he knew that Piper would want him to go on, so he did. Leo felt a lot of the time that he was only helping his charges because he had to. Sometimes, though, he would curl up in his shabby, deserted apartment and think about things, especially Piper. When he did this, he mostly ignored his charges’ calls unless they sounded urgent. He thought about Piper a lot, and quite often he imagined what their lives would be like if the Elders hadn’t punished them. He imagined that they would be happy, and maybe even have a family. Piper sometimes talked about the little girl that Piper and he had in the future. She always had a sparkle in her eyes whenever she talked about that girl. Leo knew that she really wanted a family. He always wanted her to be happy. He knew, in his heart, that if they had succeeded in getting married they would have been happy. But he wasn’t, and he doubted that Piper was doing any better. She would never see that little girl in the future now. Oh, how he was wrong.
As the years went by, Melinda grew into all of the magic that Piper and Sarah taught her. She went to school like all of the rest of the kids her age, but she always felt like an outcast. And it wasn’t because she was magical either. Piper had made sure that Melinda had all her powers under control before she went into public. And, Melinda was incredibly powerful, too. She had all three of Melinda Warren’s powers, and then some. She had the astral projection power that Prue had, the levitating power that Phoebe had, and also she could heal and orb. Piper was surprised that Melinda never got her power of explosion, but she was thankful for it, for they were down on money enough without constantly needing new furniture. But Piper knew that it was because Melinda was part pacifist, like Leo, so she could never get a power like Piper’s, that could directly harm somebody.
15 years after the Elders punished Piper and Leo, Melinda was in ninth grade. She looked almost exactly like Piper, except she had Leo’s hazel eyes. She had always had Leo’s sense of compassion, caring, and understanding, and she had Piper’s shyness. Well, at least when Piper was Melinda’s age. She was like Piper in almost every way, she even had her beautiful long, dark hair and her smile.
Now, she was beginning her journey through high school, it was her first day at the Mammoth Creek High, and she was really nervous. She got dressed for the day in a pair of jeans and a shirt, nothing extraordinary. She grabbed her bag and headed out the door while yelling a goodbye to her mom. Betty still lived next door, and was outside, watering her plants. “Bye, Aunt Betty!” Melinda called as she passed her on her way down the stairs. “Have fun today, Melinda. Make some friends,” Betty said back to Melinda, as she was halfway down. “Easier said than done,” Melinda grumbled. She continued walking to school, and was close to it when she felt a chill. That usually signaled a premonition, which for her traveled through psychic waves instead of through objects, like her mom said her sister, Phoebe, had. She continued walking, even as her premonition took place, because she was very much used to them after 14 years of them. In her premonition, she saw a guy with dark hair behind her throw an orange at her head, and the premonition ended. She turned around then, and caught the orange right before it hit her head. “How’d you do that?” the guy asked, running up so he could walk with her. “Reflexes,” Melinda said. The guy, who was a couple inches shorter than her, looked at her with admiration. “You going to Mammoth?” Melinda nodded. “So am I, it’ll be my first day.”
“Mine, too,” Melinda said, smiling. “That’s cool. Wait, I think I know you, you’re that Melinda girl. You went to Stapleton, didn’t you? I think I’ve seen you around there before.”
“Yeah. I never saw you there though,” Melinda responded back, looking at the boy. “We never had the same classes, I just saw you in the hallway sometimes, and I asked who you were,” he said. “By the way, my name’s Mike, Mike Ricks.”
“Melinda Halliwell,” Melinda responded, with a small smile. “You asked who I was? When you saw me?” she asked, rather surprised at that. “Well, yeah. It took me a while to figure it out, not many people knew you, you were so shy and all.”
“Well, I don’t want my messed up life to be known about really,” Melinda said. “Messed up? I doubt that,” Mike said. “It’s true. It’s hard to explain how,” she responded. “Give me an idea.”
“Fine. My dad’s gone, dead. My mom raised me all by herself, and I had no friends. Not to mention that people think of me as a freak.”
“What? Why?” “Because I’m shy, and different.”
“Well, I don’t think of you as a freak,” Mike said. “Thanks,” Melinda said with a smile. “When did your dad die?” Mike asked. “Before I was born. I never knew him, but I wish I did. My mom always says the best things about him,” she said, half-truthful about Leo’s death. “Well, my dad is never around, he’s a trucker,” Mike said. “Yeah, well, at least you have a dad,” Melinda said. “My mom always says that I should be thankful for what I have, but truthfully, I’m not.”
“Yeah, I know. My mom says that, too. Hey, we’re here,” Melinda said, looking up at the huge building. “Well, let’s go get our schedules then. Maybe we’ll have some classes together.”

CharmedFan12 Charmed Cafe Member Posts: 351 (2/19/04 10:12 pm) Reply I have good news. I just saved a bunch on car insurance! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I said soon, I meant it! I received my three replies that I absolutely love, so I shall show you just how sorry I am for letting this hang for so long by updating once again tonight!!! enjoy!
Their first day, after the day was over, they decided to walk home together. Melinda took a different route, and they ended up in an area completely surrounded by huge trees, and the creek rode right through the area. “I found this place when I was a little kid. I come here to think a lot. It’s really quiet.”
“And pretty,” Mike added. “I never even knew about this area.”
“You see that log over there? The one that crosses over the creek? Well, one time, when I was about 11, maybe, there was this dead fish, rotting on it. I always made sure to step over it and everything. On the other side, over there, there was a bunch of wood that could be used to make a campfire, so I crossed over the log and got some. On my way back over the log, though, I had a bunch of sticks in my hand, and I was stepping over the fish that was there and I lost my balance and fell in, up to my mid back! It was horrible. The water was all gross and stuff.”
“Ugh, nasty. What did you do after that?”
“Well, I went home and changed. I never told anyone but my family that story. Well, what I mean by my family is my mom, our neighbor, and my mom’s cousin, who lives with us.”
“Do you have any cousins or anything?” Mike asked. “None that I know of.”
“I thought I’d find you over here,” Piper’s voice called. Piper walked over to them and smiled. “Mike, this is my mom. Mom, this is Mike.” They shook hands, and smiled. “So, what are you doing over here anyway?” Piper asked. “I’m just showing him my spot, Mom.”
“And telling me the story about when she fell in,” Mike said with a laugh. “I hated fish from that day on…” Melinda said with a smile, and they all laughed.
So, Melinda and Mike became pretty good friends, and were like a dynamic duo, except without the popularity. They always hung out with each other, and when you saw one of them, chances were, you saw the other. People made fun of them because they hung out together, and people said that they were going out and stuff. It annoyed the heck out of both of them, but they tried to ignore it. School wasn't horrible for Melinda, it was actually easier now that she had a friend. But, high school had it's downsides. There was a small group of girls that were mostly the ones picking on Melinda and Mike. "Hey, Melinda!" one of the three girls called while running over to them. Melinda sighed, knowing that she was going to be picked on now about something. Melinda found it best just to tolerate them. "Yeah?" Melinda asked, looking down at the girls that were all a little bit shorter than her. She was tall compared to most of her classmates, and she was taller than her mom, too. She figured that was a trait that she got from her dad. "How come we never see your dad around?" a brown haired girl asked, whose name was Hannah Fuller. "Maybe she doesn't have a dad," she said, with a cruel laugh to her friends. "I have a dad," Melinda said in defense. "Then where is he?" asked Jenna Johnson, a girl with short blonde hair. When Melinda didn't answer, they laughed again. "Hey, Jenna, you live under her, don't you?" the other girl, Jamie Parks, asked with a grin. "Yeah, and my mom told me in all of the years that we've lived there, not one man has walked into their apartment! That's so lame!" Jenna said cruelly with a laugh. "Not to mention that there are weird sounds coming from your place. So, what do you do up there anyway?" "Nothing," Melinda said, starting to walk away. "Hey, come on, we're not done talking yet!" Hannah called as Melinda and Mike walked away. Mike turned around and looked at them while continuing to walk. "Yeah, you are," he said, and he turned back around. "I thought you said that your dad died." "He did," Melinda said shortly. "Then why did you say..." Mike started to ask. "Just because," Melinda said crossly, trying to hold back tears. Mike knew that he should shut up, so they started walking home.
One day, Sarah came rushing into Piper’s apartment. She ran into the bedroom so fast that she almost lost her balance. “Piper! The Elders have some news for you!” Sarah said excitedly. “I don’t care what they have to say,” Piper said casually while writing in a notebook. “You will this time.”
“What is it?” Piper asked, looking up from her writing at her whitelighter. “The Elders told me that your punishment has been lifted. They said 15 years was enough time,” Sarah said happily. “Are you kidding?” Piper asked, getting to her feet. “No, and the Elders aren’t exactly known for practical jokes,” Sarah said. “Oh my gosh! That’s so great!” Piper said, hugging Sarah. “But what am I going to tell Melinda?”
“What? Really?” Melinda asked, having mixed emotions. “Yeah. They said that I could go back to San Francisco,” said Piper with a smile, which faded when she looked at her daughter. “What do you think?”
“I don’t know. I’m really happy for you, but on the other hand, you’re going to want to move back there, right?” “I hadn’t really given it any thought. But sure, I guess, I’d like to be back with my sisters.”
“It’s just, for the first time, I actually have a good friend. Not only that, this is my home, like San Francisco was yours,” Melinda said, with a sad tone. “This place is my home too. But, wouldn’t you like to go to San Francisco? See what my life used to be like? The life that I’ve told you so much about?” Piper asked. “Yeah, I’ve always wanted to go there, but move there? I don’t know.”
“Well, we don’t have to move there. I told you, I didn’t even give it any thought. Why don’t you come with me for a visit and you can meet your family?” “I would love that,” Melinda said with a smile. “Because the Elders lifted the punishment, you’ll finally be able to meet your dad, and I can see him again.” Melinda beamed at the thought. The one wish she had her whole life was to meet her dad. “Sarah’s going to talk to your dad and my sisters and we’ll spend the weekend over there. How does that sound?” Piper added with a smile. “It sounds great,” Melinda said, hugging her mom.

CharmedFan12 Charmed Cafe Member Posts: 352 (2/21/04 6:59 pm) Reply Update, yippee for you and me! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey, I just got back from staying over at my aunt's house, so I thought that I'd update! I can't believe the feedback! This is amazing! Thank you all!!!
Leo walked into the chamber that was only too familiar to him, unfortunately. The Elders were sitting behind the long marble table and looked sternly at him. “You wanted to see me?” Leo asked emotionlessly. “Yes, Leo. We have some news for you. After 15 years, we’ll grant you a week in which you may return to San Francisco,” the head Elder said. “Wait, does that mean…” Leo began with his eyes widening in happiness. “Yes, we will let you see Piper. The punishment has been lifted from her, too. She is allowed back into San Francisco, and can return to her sisters.” Leo’s smile faded slightly as he looked at the Elders’ expressions more closely. “You said a week. Only a week?” Leo asked. “Yes. I think that should be enough. We can’t have you getting too distracted, Leo. You have a job to do.”
“Don’t give me that ‘you have a job’ crap anymore. I’m sick of it.” Leo looked at the Elders with disgust and walked out into the main hall. Leo plopped himself on one of the benches and leaned his back on the wall behind him. “I’d think that you’d be happy,” a voice said to him. Leo looked up to see who the voice belonged to and saw a skinny redheaded woman. “Sarah,” Leo said with a smile on his face as he hugged her. “Long time, no see. So, what’s up with the sour face?” Sarah asked as she moved some of Leo’s long bangs out of his face in a friendly manner. “You must know how much I want to be with Piper. I’ve waited 15 years! The Elders finally give me the chance to see her just so they can take me away from her again.”
“What do you mean?” Sarah asked. “They said that I only have a week with her. I just…hate them so much sometimes.”
“You know, Leo, I haven’t seen you for a few years, and I don’t know how you handle things now, but I’ve known you a long time before. I know that you’ll figure something out. But first, you know that you can’t hold in hate. I…I just don’t want to see you get hurt,” Sarah said sincerely. “Hear me out, okay, Leo? Just…forget about your hate and just embrace the love that Piper still has for you and that you have for her.”
“She still loves me?” Leo asked with the smile reappearing on his face. “When did you become ignorant?” Sarah said with a laugh. “A few years ago,” Leo joked, joining her with a laugh. “Seriously Leo, she still does love you. And there’s a lot that she needs to talk to you about and tell you.”
“Like what?”
“I can’t tell you. That’s for her to do. Piper wanted me to give this to you, though,” Sarah said as she handed Leo an envelope and walked away. Leo looked at the envelope and smiled as he read his name on the front in Piper’s handwriting. He carefully slid his finger under the flap and pulled out a piece of notebook paper. It read:
Leo, I miss you so much. There’s so much that I need to tell you that I just can’t get out in this letter. A lot of things have changed in my life since I last saw you. My life has changed, but over the years one thing hasn’t changed, and that would be my love for you. That is something that could never change. Could you meet me at the manor tomorrow afternoon? Please come, if you can. It would mean a lot. I really want to see you again. And we really need to talk. With unconditional love, Piper PS: If you are Up There, make sure to kick the Elders in the balls for me.
Leo couldn’t help but smile when he read that. The letter really reminded him of how much he loved her. He reread it a couple times and felt happier than he had in years.
Piper and Melinda started packing that night, and were going to orb to San Francisco the next day. Mike came over to their house when they were getting ready, and he and Melinda were talking. “When are you coming back?” he asked. “On Sunday. We’re only going over for the weekend.”
“And this is all a good thing, right?” “Well, yeah! I’m finally going to meet my family,” Melinda said. “And I get to see my dad.”
“But you said your dad was dead,” Mike said, looking at Melinda. “I lied.”
“You lied?”
“Yeah, I have to. There is a lot of things that I have to keep secret.”
“So I take it you lie to me a lot then,” Mike said. “No, only certain things.” “Like what?”
“I can’t tell you!” Melinda said with a laugh. “Come on, give me a hint. It’s not like I’m going to tell anybody.” Melinda sighed, trying to decide what to say. “Well, it has to do with my family, my real family.”
“You know that doesn’t help,” Mike said, skeptically. “Like I said, I can’t tell. That’s what secrets are, things that you can’t tell anyone.”
“Then how come people tell people secrets?” Mike asked with a smirk. “Because most people can’t keep a secret.”
“Well, I can. Come on, Mel, you can tell me.”
“Fine. But you can’t tell anybody.”
“Scouts honors,” Mike said, doing a little Boy Scout’s thing with his hand rather clumsily. “I take it you were never a Boy Scout,” Melinda said with a grin. “Nope. Come on now, tell me.”
“I-I have magical powers,” Melinda said tensely. Mike started laughing, but stopped when he saw her face. “You’re not kidding.”
“No, I’m not. Look,” Melinda said. She put the rest of her clothes in her duffel bag with a wave of her hand, and then zipped the bag close. Mike watched wide-eyed as she did that while standing a good five feet from her bag. “Woah,” Mike said. “Cool.” Melinda chuckled, and then grabbed her bag and placed it by her door, and she sat down on her bed. “How do you do that? What I mean is, what are you exactly?”
“Okay, don’t turn this around on me, but I’m a witch, a good witch. Well, half witch. My dad is an angel type thing for witches, and that is how my parents met.”
“Why don’t you know your dad? Why doesn’t he live here with you?”
“Because witches and whitelighters aren’t supposed to fall in love,” Melinda said, repeating the story she had heard hundreds of times. “My parents did, and my dad’s bosses split them up as a punishment.”
“That’s not cool,” Mike said, looking at his friend. “I can finally meet him now. The funny thing is, because Mom couldn’t talk to him for 15 years, he doesn’t even know that I exist.”
“Really? Well, that’ll be interesting, I guess.”
“Yeah, I guess.”
“So, what powers do you have exactly? Is it just that one?” Mike asked. “Oh, no. I have tons. That one that showed you was telekinesis, then I have the ability to freeze, or stop, time. I can levitate, and I can also see into the future, that’s how I knew that you were going to throw that orange at me that one day.”
“Oh, I always wondered how you did that.”
“I can also heal people, and astral project,” Melinda added. “What do you mean exactly?” Mike asked curiously. “Um, it’s like…um, it’s hard to explain. What happens is I send a subconscious form of my self somewhere. Uh, imagine a solid hologram or something,” Melinda said, looking at Mike who looked utterly confused. “Never mind. And I can also do something called orbing.”
“What’s that?”
“This.” Melinda orbed off of the bed and reappeared behind Mike. Before he could do anything, she scared him from behind, and he fell off of his chair. “Boo! Ha ha!” Melinda said, laughing. “You see, that’s not fair!” “Well, life’s not fair, is it?” Melinda said, still laughing. Mike looked with her with narrowed eyes and scowled. “Mike, you can’t tell anyone that I’m a witch. Or that I have powers or anything,” Melinda said seriously. “I won’t, and I wouldn’t have anyway,” Mike said honestly to Melinda before glancing down at his watch. “Oh, no. I was supposed to be home ten minutes ago! I have to go!” He grabbed his backpack and ran out of the room, yelling goodbye. Melinda smiled, and fell back on her bed, wondering what surprises the next day would bring.

CharmedFan12 Charmed Cafe Member Posts: 353 (2/22/04 8:48 pm) Reply Update!! Woohoo! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- everyone for the reviews! They really brighten up my gloomy days! And even my already bright ones!
The next afternoon, Piper and Melinda orbed to San Francisco, but Piper couldn’t get the courage to go any farther then they were now. They were standing on the sidewalk in front of the manor, and Piper just looked up and the building, remembering her past. “This is where you used to live?” Melinda asked, admiring the house. She looked down the rest of the street and couldn’t help but notice how unique the manor was. “Yeah, this is where I grew up.” “Come on, Mom, we can’t stand out here all day.”
“Sure we can,” Piper said nervously. Melinda laughed at her mom, but then started dragging her towards the door. “Mel, you know how hard this is for me.”
“And yet I still think that you should go in there,” Melinda said. “I’ll be right behind you.”
“Fine, fine. How do I look?” Piper asked with a grin to her daughter. “Great. Now stop wasting time and go up there!” Melinda responded with a small laugh, pushing her mom towards the door. Piper narrowed her eyes at her daughter in a joking manner and nervously walked up to the door and knocked. What was obviously Phoebe opened the door and a smile appeared on her face when she saw Piper. “Piper, I can’t believe it!” Phoebe said, stepping out to hug her sister. They were hugging each other so tight, Melinda wondered how either of them could breathe. “What are you doing out here, this is your house too! Come in! Prue!” Prue came running into the room, but stopped abruptly when she saw Piper, and what looked like a younger version of Piper. But, she ran at her sister and they hugged just like Phoebe and Piper did the first time. When they broke apart, Piper wiped a tear away from her eye with her sleeve, and so did Prue. “So, who’s this?” Prue asked, smiling, while looking at Melinda. Melinda kept her mouth shut, afraid to say anything. “This is my daughter, Melinda.” “Wow. She looks just like you. So, uh, who’s the dad?” Phoebe asked kindly, confused though about who the father could be. “Uh, Leo,” she finally said. She put her arm around her daughter, and hugged her. “What? How?” Phoebe asked, her eyes wide in surprise and amazement. “It’s hard to explain. Where is he?” Piper asked, looking around. “He’s not here yet, sweetie.” A chill went up Piper’s spine when she heard that. The sound of her sister calling her ‘sweetie’ was weird. She hadn’t heard it in 15 years. She turned around and looked at her sisters. She started breaking down and ran over to hug them both, and they all cried. Melinda just watched, letting her mom have this time with her sisters. It would be her turn soon. She looked around, and saw someone orb into the room. She knew who he was. It was her father. “Mom…” she whispered really quietly, tapping her mother’s shoulder. “What is it?” she asked, turning around with a tear strained face. Her eyes widened when she saw Leo standing there, and she ran over to him, and did something Melinda was not expecting: she started kissing him passionately without even saying a word to him. They stopped and embraced each other. Melinda watched them, and saw something for the first time that she should have seen from when she was born: her parents together. “Oh, god, I missed you so much,” Piper mumbled to him, while holding on to Leo tightly. “You have no idea how much I missed you,” Leo whispered back to her. Piper took a step back next to Melinda and looked at him while wiping a tear from her eye. “Leo, I need to tell you something,” Piper said. “This is Melinda, our daughter.” “Wh-What?” he asked, looking at Melinda, who just stood there. “‘Our’ daughter?” “Yeah. I found out a few weeks after they split us up that I was pregnant. I wished there was some way that I could have told you, but there wasn’t.” Leo walked slowly over to Melinda and put his warm, soft hand on her face, looked at her and smiled. Melinda tried to hold back her emotions, but it was so hard. She just reached forward and put her arms around him and started crying, like Piper did with her sisters. Leo held her tightly, and looked at Piper with his hazel eyes. She smiled and nodded, as if to tell him that this was right. “I’m sorry I was never there for you, but I promise that I will from now on, no matter what they say,” Leo said quietly to Melinda, stroking his hand through his daughter’s hair. Without anyone noticing, Melinda’s eyes glowed a brilliant blue for a second before returning to normal. Melinda pulled away so she could look at her father’s face with her hazel eyes. “Really?” she asked, wiping the tears from her eyes. “Yeah, really. I should have been there from the start. I wish I had,” Leo said, glancing at Piper, who had a small smile on her face and tears in her eyes. “So did I,” she whispered. Melinda looked over to where she heard a noise in a doorway and saw a girl with dark hair, who looked as if she was younger than herself, standing there. The girl walked over to Phoebe and tugged on her sleeve to get her attention. “Uh, Mom? Dinner’s ready,” she said, looking around at the people in her house that she didn’t recognize. The girl smiled at Melinda, and Melinda smiled back and did a small wave at her cousin. Piper also looked over, and smiled again. “Phoebe, is that your daughter? She’s beautiful!” Piper exclaimed, looking at the girl. “Thanks,” the girl said, blushing. “I’ll go make sure that dinner doesn’t burn,” Prue said, as she went into the room that the girl just came from. “This is Kristen,” Phoebe said. “Kristen, that’s your Aunt Piper, and that’s your cousin, Melinda. And that guy over there is Leo.”
“Hi,” Kristen said, shyly. “Hey,” Melinda responded with a smile. “Why don’t you go put your bags up in the guest room. It’s your old bedroom, Piper,” Phoebe said. “And sorry, but you’ll have to share the bed. Will you be staying, Leo?”
“If you don’t mind,” he responded. “Sleeping bag upstairs or couch? We’re out of bedrooms.”
“I’ll take the sleeping bag,” Leo said with a small smile. “Okay, then.” Phoebe smiled and followed Kristen into the kitchen. Piper glanced at Melinda before picking up her bags and walking upstairs. After Piper and Melinda dropped their bags inside of the room, they started heading back down the stairs again. “It’s weird, it’s been 15 years, yet I still know this house as if I walked through it yesterday,” Piper said. “Well, you did grow up here, and spent almost thirty years of your life here,” Melinda replied. “Hey, are you implying that I’m some old buzzard in her late forties? I’m not that old. And remember college. I didn’t live here then.” “Oh, sorry,” Melinda said with a roll of the eyes and a grin. “Don’t you roll your eyes at me,” Piper said without even looking at her. “Wait, how’d you know…” Melinda began in astonishment. “I’m your mom, I know everything.” Melinda breathed a laugh and as they came back down into the foyer, where Leo was standing there, waiting. Melinda still couldn’t believe it; that was her father! The man that she thought that she’d never see.
The black hooded Source sat in his throne in the underworld, listening to a demon that was standing before him. “Great news, sir, the demon of anarchy that we have posted in Manhattan reports that things are going extremely well. There’s chaos everywhere,” the demon reported. “Good.” The Source shifted in his chair. “What about in London?”
“It’s about average today, sir,” Kegar, the demon, said. “Good, good…” the Source said, with a smile appearing on his concealed face. His smile disappeared, however, and he became stiff in his chair. “Tell me, Kegar, do you sense that?”
“Sense what, my lord?” Kegar asked, looking curiously at his master. “I don’t know exactly, it feels like a great surge of power…” the Source began. “Good or evil power, sir?” “Good. In San Francisco. I never felt such power before…” the Source mumbled to himself. “Could it have something to do with the Charmed Ones? They lived in San Francisco,” Kegar said. “Possibly.”
“It just doesn’t make sense, though,” Kegar continued with his own thought. “The Charmed Ones have been split for 15 years…What could it be?” “I don’t know. But, the power I’m sensing is more powerful than just the Charmed Ones. Go check it out, Kegar. Just find out what you can. Don’t attack. Then, report to me.”
“Yes, sir.” Kegar turned and walked out. The Source slouched in his chair, and looked to be deep in thought.

Melinda walked into the dining room alone so she could give her parents a moment. She turned around, leaned against the doorframe, and watched them. They were hugging each other lovingly, and Melinda could see their lips moving, even though she couldn’t hear what they were saying. She was confused; this was all so weird for her. Her family felt like it had popped out of no where and she really didn’t know how to behave. Her father was just in the other room there and she felt so nervous, but she just couldn’t put into words why. She didn’t know what to say really, and she didn’t know how to act around her dad and the rest of the people here. It was just a lot to comprehend. “Um, hi,” said a voice from behind her, and she jumped in surprise. She whirled around and saw a dark-brown haired boy about that other girl’s age, Kristen. His expression was curious and his voice held the same expression. “Hi,” Melinda said nervously. “I’m Chris,” the boy said, leaning against the table in a cool, casual way. “Melinda,” she responded. Melinda noticed a weird sort of smirk that he had on his face but before she could really give it much more thought, Kristen walked in. “Don’t even start flirting, Chris, she’s our cousin,” she said, grinning at the boy. The smirk turned into a look of disgust for a second before it went back to normal. “Oh, um…” he mumbled nervously before walking quickly back into the kitchen. Kristen giggled and looked at Melinda with a smile. “That’s my brother. He can be a dork sometimes.”
“You two twins?” Melinda asked curiously. “Why do you ask?”
“I don’t know, you look about the same age and you also look a little bit a like.”
“Yeah, we are. You know, most people don’t even think that we’re twins and when we mention it, like in a casual conversation, they’re like ‘Really? Cool, I didn’t know that!’ It’s pretty annoying sometimes.”
“I bet.” After a moment of silence, Melinda turned around and leaned against the doorframe to watch her parents again. There was a tingling in her stomach and it took a lot out of her to not cry. She just couldn’t quite understand the happiness that was growing inside of her, along with the feeling of impatience to converse with the father that she never had, but she had always known was out there somewhere. Her parents were still muttering quietly to one another, and she really wish she knew what they were saying. “You’ve never met your dad before, have you?” Kristen asked empathetically. “No.”
“I really can’t imagine what you must be feeling right now.”
“Well, I can’t really explain it. I don’t know, it’s like my insides are trying to just get out and it’s taking every ounce of effort to hold them in. Did that make sense?” Melinda asked with a laugh. “Sure it does,” the eleven-year-old said with a smile. “It’s so cool, I never knew that I had another cousin besides AJ,” Kristen said, and Melinda looked at her to find a look of admiration on Kristen’s face as she looked at her. “Who’s AJ?” Melinda asked with curiosity. “Aunt Prue’s son.”
“Wow, another cousin. How old is he?” “Oh, nine, I think.”
“Cool,” Melinda said with a smile. She turned around again and they both watched Piper and Leo for a while, watching the happiness in both of them.

Back! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey, sorry it took so long, I was over at my mom's house and my story's over at my dad's. I'm back now, so I have here an update for ya! Enjoy!
Piper was holding Leo so tightly, in a way that it seemed that she never wanted to let go. Really, she wanted to stay like that forever. Leo was doing practically the same thing, one hand was held around her lovingly, and the other was delicately stroking her hair. “I love you so much, Leo. These years have been almost unbearable without you.”
“I love you too, Piper. More than you can ever imagine. It-it seems that even though the Elders tore us apart to try to extinguish our love, all I know is that mine has grown stronger when we were apart. That probably sounds dumb, doesn’t it?”
“No, Leo, it doesn’t. Because it was the same with me. If I didn’t have Melinda, I would have probably have killed myself years ago, because I couldn’t handle the pain.”
“Melinda seems like an amazing human being.”
“She is. She is the reason I am here today. I don’t think that I was the best mother in the world, though. I always think to myself that I could have done a better job. But then I stop and just look at her, and I can’t imagine how she could be better than what she is, and that’s when I feel that I have done a good job raising her by myself.”
“You shouldn’t have done it by yourself, though. I just wish that somehow, I don’t know how, someone could have told me. Now that I know that I have a daughter, you can’t believe how much I regret not being there for her.”
“I do know, Leo! I wished you were there every single day of her life! But we can’t change the past. We can’t change what the Elders have done. What we can control is our future. I want you there for her, Leo.”
“I want to be there, too.”
“Can you?” Piper asked hopefully, looking up at him. “I don’t know,” he responded quietly. “Will it make you feel better if I said that I’ll try?” he asked with a smile. “Maybe,” she said with a grin. She glanced over to the doorway to see her daughter and Kristen standing there, watching them. “It looks like we’ve got an audience,” she said to Leo with a laugh. “Look.” Leo moved his eyes over to what Piper was looking at and snickered. “Come on,” Piper said, taking his hand and leading him into the dining room, to where the girls were standing. “Eavesdropping, were you?” she asked her daughter with a smile. “Nope. Eavesdropping implies listening. We couldn’t hear you,” Melinda said with a grin. “She’s got a point,” Leo said, looking at his daughter. Melinda felt color rising in her cheeks as he looked at her. “Thanks.” They started walking into the kitchen as Prue was walking into the dining room with plates in her hands. “Hi. I was just about to get you,” she said smiling at Piper and Leo. “Everything’s ready, so find a seat.” They all sat down at the table, Piper and Leo sat next to each other, and Melinda noted that they were holding hands. She thought that that was really great. Melinda sat on her mother’s right and Kristen sat next to her. Melinda could tell already that this girl liked her and looked up to her. It was pretty cool, no one had really ever looked up to Melinda before, except for the people that were shorter than her, but that was for a different reason. Prue, Phoebe, Chris, a little black haired boy that Melinda assumed was AJ, and two tall, dark haired men came in in the next couple of minutes. Chris sat down next to Kristen, his mom sat next to him, the men sat next to each other, then AJ, and finally Prue took up the last seat, next to Leo. Melinda kind of wanted to sit next to her dad too, but she let her mom have this day with him first. ‘Patience is a virtue’, Sarah would always tell her. God, she always hated it when Sarah would say that, but she would keep in mind all of the time. “Um, Piper, Leo, Melinda, this is my husband Cole Turner,” Phoebe spoke up next, looking at the dark haired man next to her. “This is Bane, Prue’s husband, and AJ, their son. Oh, and Chris, my son, next to me here. He said that he met you already, Melinda.” She looked at her with a warm smile and she nodded, making sure she remembered every person’s name. “And guys, these are Piper, Leo, and Melinda, their daughter.”
“You never said that they had a daughter, that’s really nice,” Melinda heard Phoebe’s husband Cole whisper to her. “Well, I didn’t know.” She smiled at him and turned her smile towards Melinda again. She never really enjoyed special attention, but she found this attention to be not as annoying as it can be otherwise. This was her family. “Bane, I remember you. When did you get out of jail?” Piper asked. “Oh, they released me three years later. I found Prue, we dated for a couple years, and I asked her to marry me. Like a year after that, we had AJ,” Bane said with a smile. “I really wanted a kid, I was a little jealous of Phoebe having two kids,” Prue said, glancing at Phoebe. Phoebe was serving food out to the people around her and glanced up when she heard her name. “Uh, okay,” Phoebe said, clueless of what the conversation was about. Everyone who was listening laughed, and so did Phoebe. Melinda thought her aunts seemed like pretty cool people, and so did everybody else. She was jerked out of her thoughts when she heard her dad speak. “I think I remember you, Cole. I met you once, didn’t I?” he asked. “Yeah. And I met Piper, too. In that bookstore that one time.”
“That’s right. I completely forgot about that,” Piper said. Melinda looked at Cole closely, he seemed like a great guy, but she could sense something about him. “You’re a demon, aren’t you?” she asked, and her mother glared at her. “How could you tell?” he said, looking impressed. Melinda shrugged. “I just had a feeling.”
“You’re a demon?” Piper asked incredulously. “Half,” Cole said with a smile. “How’d you two…” Piper began asking, pointing to Cole and Phoebe. “Don’t get mad at me, okay?” Cole said, looking at her. “But I was sent to kill you. But when you were sent away, my job was done. Well, I had nothing to do, I should say. The Charmed Ones were split, which was just as good as you being killed, no offense. It was just my job.” “Wha-?!” Piper began. “Now I regret ever taking the job. But really I had no choice. Just to let you know, I killed the Triad soon after that.”
“I heard that Belthazor killed them, but I didn’t know that you were him,” Leo said. Cole grinned. “What? You’ve got your secret identity. A handyman, right?” Cole asked. Piper smiled at Leo, who chuckled. “Yeah.”
“Anyway, I was about to go away when Phoebe insisted that she take me out. I couldn’t refuse, so we went out. I fell in love with her, got on the Source’s bad side…we got married, had those two brats…” he said, looking at Kristen and Chris. “Hey!” they said together. Everybody laughed. Piper felt a pang of jealousy towards her sisters. They both had wonderful men, and had children, a family. They were together, while hers was torn apart. A family is together. Maybe she could have a family now though…maybe they could all be together now. She looked at Leo, and squeezed his hand. He looked back at her and smiled lovingly, but she could see some sadness in his eyes. She wondered what he was thinking about… Maybe he was thinking the same thing…
Leo saw the hopeful look in Piper’s eyes, and he had a feeling he knew what she was thinking. There was just that one problem, the Elders. They would never allow them to be together; they didn’t know about Melinda apparently, and if they did, they would probably be furious. He was scared of what would happen to them, to Melinda… Wow, he still couldn’t believe that he had a daughter. It blew his mind…But in a week he’d never be able to see her again… He couldn’t tell Piper that, she would be devastated…but he gave his word, he had to try…but how?
please keep up those wonderful reviews! I luv them!!!

CharmedFan12 Charmed Cafe Member Posts: 355 (2/29/04 7:26 pm) Reply small update, but update none the less! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The rest of dinner was long, filled with only small talk. Piper had told everyone where she had been all of those years, and how she couldn’t get a hold of anyone, and how she’d tried. Phoebe and Prue told her about not being able to take care of P3, and how it was shut down months after she ‘left’. Piper expected that to happen, she tried to reassure them that it was fine. She could tell that they were feeling guilty. It was no big deal to her anymore. A topic of current careers was also a major topic. “I’m a psychiatrist, but I’ve also got a very popular advice column on the Internet,” Phoebe was saying. “You’re a shrink?” Piper said jokingly. “Yes, I am.” Phoebe smirked. “What have you been doing all these years?”
“Well, I actually manage and co-own an inn. Yeah, you may say how ‘Gilmore Girls’ is that, but I wanted to own a restaurant, but inns make a lot more money,” she said. “‘Gilmore Girls’?” Melinda asked questioningly. “TV show when you were younger,” she mumbled back. “Oh…” “What about you, Prue? Bane? Cole? What do you all do for a living?” Piper asked. “Bane and I bought up 415 magazine, and I’m the main editor for it,” Prue said. “Wow, that’s pretty impressive,” Leo said. Melinda noticed that he and her mom were still holding hands. She thought that was so sweet…
“Thank you,” Prue said, with a proud smile. “And I’m a lawyer, I work with the DA actually,” Cole said. “So you’re a demon and a lawyer?” Piper asked, laughing. “Yeah,” Cole said, laughing a little too. Melinda couldn’t help but find that a little funny, also. She turned her gazed over to where her dad was sitting to find him looking at her. She felt color rising in her face again, and he smiled at her. She smiled nervously back, but she couldn’t understand why she was so nervous. Well, maybe because that was her father, she’s never seen him before, he just found that she existed… She kept mentally beating herself until Leo leaned behind Piper and spoke to her quietly. “You know, all of these years, I felt like I had some greater purpose… In the back of my mind, I felt like I had this other responsibility or something…like there was just…something or someone else out there. Something I was bound to. I never really got that. But it makes sense now. I know it was you, I had always felt you. I still do.” Melinda was lost for words, not knowing what to say. Thankfully, he continued. “Honestly, now that I know what that is, I can feel it, you. We’re connected; I can feel what you feel, sort of. And I think that you have felt it, too.” He was right; there always was this…presence in the back of her mind. It was this depressed presence usually, but now it wasn’t. It felt…happier. “Is that you?” Melinda asked quietly. “Yeah, I think so. Pretty cool, huh?” he said with a smile. “Yeah,” she said, looking admiringly at him. The rest of dinner passed with out too much happening. Melinda was getting pretty tired, so she was patiently waiting for everyone else to finish talking. Leo and her kept glancing at the other; it seemed that Leo was doing the same. Piper was talking with her sisters a lot, catching up on everything that she’s missed over the years. Soon enough, though, Melinda’s patience paid off. They all headed upstairs, tired and exhausted. Prue and Bane also headed up to another guest bedroom, apparently they lived in another part of California, called Bodega Bay. Kristen and Chris lived in the basement, which was made into a couple of small bedrooms, and AJ stayed in Chris’s room. Phoebe and Cole headed to their room while Melinda, Piper, and Leo headed to their guestroom, Leo with a sleeping bag in hand. “You know, I’ll take the sleeping bag if you want so you two can have the bed,” Melinda offered. “No, it’s fine. That’s sweet of you to offer,” Leo said with a smile as he laid the sleeping bag on the floor on the side of the bed that Piper threw her stuff on. They all got ready for bed, and Melinda laid on her side of the bed, staring up at the ceiling, thinking about everything that happened that day, and actually given some thought to the presence in the back of her head. So she had always had her father there in a way…it was weird. She had a sense of his emotion…or something like that. She couldn’t tell what he was thinking or anything right now. Wow, her dad seemed like a great guy…he seemed just as good as her mother always made him out to be… She could feel her mother’s happiness, too… She’s always known about the connection with her mother, and it’s helped on many occasions, like when she would be hurt. Melinda kept on thinking about her mom and realized this is probably the happiest that she’d ever sensed her. She wasn’t surprised, though, she felt happy, too. She had her family back. She drifted off to sleep with thoughts of her parents and her thoughts turned into dreams…
“Is she asleep?” Leo whispered to Piper. Piper leaned carefully over to Melinda and found her asleep. “Yeah.”
“She’s as beautiful as you are,” Leo said quietly to her. Piper lay back down on the bed stomach down so she could see him and looked down at Leo with a smile. “Thank you,” Piper said, dropping her arm down. “You look just like I always remember you…except your hair is longer,” she said, moving some of his hair out of his eyes. “Well, whitelighters don’t age…and I have to blend in with everybody, so I have so have some sense of fashion…” he joked. He watched lovingly at Piper who was playing with his hair, and asked her, “What are you thinking about?”
“A lot of things,” she responded. “Like what?” “You, Melinda, the Elders…What’s going to happen now?”
“I don’t know. We’re just going to have to wait and see.” He thought for a moment, and spoke again. “After all of these years, why didn’t you ever just move on?”
“What do you mean? You mean, find someone else?”
“Yeah, I guess.”
“I couldn’t. If you had died, it would have been easier to move on. I know that sounds really…selfish, but what I mean is that knowing that you were alive and out there somewhere, I don’t know. I just…couldn’t,” Piper said to him. “About three or four years ago, I did try dating a couple times, but it just wasn’t right for me. Maybe I knew in my heart that I would see you again.” Leo smiled at her, and looked away. Piper could tell that something was troubling him. “What’s wrong?”
“What? Oh, nothing’s wrong,” Leo lied to her. Piper glared down at him with her brown eyes. “Don’t lie to me. Melinda looks exactly the same when she lies.”
“She does?” “Don’t change the subject!” Piper said with a laugh as she playfully hit his arm. “Hey, I was just asking…You know, I just found out that I had a daughter a few hours ago, and I don’t know, I want to know what she’s like. I want to know what you’re like now, too.”
“I’m just the same Piper that you knew, just…older.”
“No, you’re not. I can tell. You have grown into a role as a mother, not to mention a single mother, and I know that that changes people. Trust me, I’m a whitelighter. I know a lot of people.”
“So, I’m not the same person as you remembered and loved?”
“Love. Not loved. I love you more than anything I have ever loved in my whole life, and I love the woman that you are now as much as I love the way you were. I just want to know you as well as I did 15 years ago, that’s all.”
“Well, if you put it that way,” she said, looking down at him with a smile. “I’m just glad I have you once again. I missed you,” Leo said sincerely. “I missed you too, more than you could know. But I can still tell that something’s wrong,” Piper said concernedly. “It doesn’t matter.”
“Yes it does. If it matters to you, it matters.” Leo grinned as he remembered that old Halliwell saying. “I’ll tell you later. We should get some sleep.” Leo held Piper’s hand that was hanging down from the bed, and they fell asleep remembering each other’s loving touch.
Sorry it wasn't long, the next one will be longer. That is, if i get enough reviews.

That fight scene was one of the best I've ever read!!! I could see it *so* well!! And I love your full setup--Piper & Leo with the daughter they were supposed to have--Phoebe married to Cole with twin sons, and *her* having Chris (and Krissy), not Piper; even the idea of Prue with Bane (there always was great chemistry between those two!) with AJ as a son! That's tremendous!! And the powers that the kids have inherited--WOW! Using the fact that the Charmed Ones are broken up by Piper & Leo being separated letting Phoebe & Cole marry (since he never becomes the Source) and letting Prue live (since they don't battle Shax) is FANTASTIC!
You've *got* to update very, very soon; you're a very, very talented writer!!
Personally I hope that Piper, Leo & Melinda (and maybe their other assorted relatives) get a chance to KICK SOME ELDER A$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or maybe the Source will try to conquer the Elders, but the Halliwells conquer him instead and the Elders are so grateful they let them stay and *then* Wyatt shows up (good, of course!) Or would that be too much like the series? I've warned people that I don't have as much imagination as other writers. So, whatever you decide to do, I can't wait to find out!!!!
I just want to know if Wyatt or Paige will show up--doesn't sound like that's necessary, but it seems strange not having them around. But please don't answer; it takes away from the fun of finding out! I'm just letting you know what this reader is thinking!

Anyway, you don't want to listen to the loser, only the loser's story, so here you go!!! Enjoy!!!
“Get down!” Prue yelled, and telekinetically threw an arrow that flew inches from Piper’s head into a demon. Piper threw her hands out at another demon, and he was instantly incinerated. Melinda reached her hand out behind her and picked up some of the splinters from where her mom landed, and they flew into four demon’s chests, vanquishing them. What seemed to be out of nowhere, an athame came flying her direction and pierced her left shoulder, making her stumble back in pain. Piper noticed her hit and caught her, and swiftly pulled out the knife. “Are you okay?” she asked with concern, looking at Melinda’s pain filled expression. Melinda looked down at her mom and nodded. “Yeah, I’ll live.” Piper gave her a comforting smile before turning around, threw the athame that was still in her hand at a demon and froze an energy ball headed towards them all in one movement. With her other hand, she flung it out toward another demon and blew him up just about as he was about to throw an electrical bolt. Melinda, using her right arm, flung her arm at the three or so demons ready to attack Phoebe, and they all went flying in different directions, smashing into things on the way down. Cole had a couple demons holding onto his arms, preventing him from throwing any energy balls. Lucky for him, a force sent one of them flying, giving him a free hand, and he also sent the one on the other hand soaring with the flick of his wrist. [A/N: Remember that Cole/Belthazor also has some telekinesis. (Centennial Charmed)] He glanced at his daughter and she grinned. “Thanks, sweetie,” he said, for she had helped him with her telekinesis. Her face went from a grin to a look of joking disgust. “Why do you have to call me sweetie?” Kristen asked, ducking down as a demon tried to tackle her from behind. The demon tripped on top of her, and crashed into the wall, and Kristen vanquished it with an energy ball. Cole laughed slightly but in his moment of distraction, a fireball came hurtling his way, which he barely dodged. Turning his concentration back to his opponents, he waved his hand at a demon and she was erupted in flames. Phoebe roundhouse kicked a darklighter. He was the only foe fighting her at the time, for most of the others were dead. The darklighter went flying, but before he landed, he orbed out, and Phoebe turned around to see where he went. When she saw, it was too late. Melinda felt an arm wrap around her neck and another grab her arms, holding them behind her back. This stretched out her shoulder, causing her to scream in agony. Piper spun around at her daughter’s cry only to see a darklighter holding her with a glowing red hand held inches from her chest. “Stop,” the darklighter said. He was a Caucasian man with a goatee, and his face showed his determination. “All of you.” Piper stood there as her daughter was inches from being incinerated, and Melinda knew this. She took shallow breaths, because of the pain, and because of the fact that this hand would mean her instant incineration. “One move and the girl is dead.”
“What do you want?” Piper asked the darklighter, trying to hold back her anger. “It’s not what I want, missy. It’s what the Source wants, and the glory I will receive with this child dead.” Piper’s heard this before, and it would kill her to hear it. Evil would want to kill her daughter just so they could say that they were all powerful. She hated that. “Let her go,” Cole said, taking a step forward. “Or else what? And stay back, unless you want little ol’ whitelighter here dead.”
“What does the Source want with her, anyway?” Phoebe asked, holding her husband’s hand to keep him from doing anything rash. “You say it like you don’t know. She’s a powerful source of good. She tips the scale profoundly.”
“What?” Piper said, looking at her daughter, who had her eyes closed from the pain. Melinda opened her eyes and Piper was astonished to see the magnificent blue that seemed to erupt from her eyes. A burst of light surrounded Melinda and the darklighter, and the darklighter was shot away, crashing into the wall, seemingly unconscious. Piper looked at her daughter with surprise, but Phoebe looked impressed. “Cool,” Chris said, as he froze one of the last demons in the room as it was about to attack. He finished it off with an energy ball and Cole killed another four in two swift moves with an energy ball from each hand. Bane impaled the last demon before he noticed a movement. “Watch it!” Bane said, looking at the darklighter, who was sitting up with his crossbow in hand. Before Melinda could get out of the way, she was hit in the stomach as she was turning around, and gasped as she instantly felt the poison starting to take over. She started to see shining bright lights, but before she could figure out what they were, she blacked out.

CharmedAgainPiper Posts: 88 (3/26/04 8:30 am) Reply GREAT!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I love your stories!! THEY ARE THE BEST!!!! See normally I don't like when someone will make a character more powerful then the Charmed Ones.. They always say, " They have like a gazillion powers, can do anything and can beat anyone!" cause then whats the point of having them fight if they'll never ever lose at all... BUT IN THIS CASE (as 1 or 2 others) YOU TOTALLY PULL IT OFF!! It just makes the story so much better! (hmm....maybe its the fact that its Pipers child...I mean thats why I don't mind wyatt being all powerful.... perhaps..perhaps...) AND GRET JOB! UPDATE SOON! Esmeralda Posts: 156 (3/26/04 11:40 am) Reply FANTASTIC!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm with CharmedAgainPiper. Normally I don't like a character having more powers than TCO (because then it's *their* show, not Charmed), but in this case, having both Piper & Leo as parents with all of their powers, I'll let it slide, especially because you're letting her have Leo's weakness--the Darklighter's arrow. But I *do* think that the twins should have more powers than just shimmering with both a witch and a half-demon as parents! Since AJ is just half-witch, I can see where he'd be the least powerful of the kids, even if his mom was the strongest.
Once again, you did a tremendous job describing fight scenes! It simply rocked! I'm dying to find out what's going to happen next, even tho I'll be gone for the weekend and won't be able to go online.
Anyway, with a writing talent like yours, I can guarantee that you're absolutely not a loser, but a HUGE winner!! And you are if you believe you are!!! I just love watching in my head as I read this all the Charmedones and their husbands and their kids all fighting! It is so much fun to imagin.
Also so Melinda is like the most powerful witch now, even over the Charmed ones? Or she is at least as powerful as the Charmed ones? So the thing with her eyes, it sounds like when that happens she becomes more powerful and tapes into more power when her eyes are blue. Am I close? Or is it just like she makes this big light that throws everyone back when her eyes turn blue? Whatever it is, I bet it wil be explained later!
THIS IS AN AWESOME STORY!!!!!! And you are not a loser, a loser could not write a story like this!!!!!

CharmedFan12 Charmed Cafe Member Posts: 366 (3/27/04 12:16 am) Reply Re: GREAT!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow. I can't find another word to describe all of your reviews! I loved reading them! It's official: this is once again my favorite place to come online. It is. I love it and I love all of you!
WARNING: long entry here, non -story (at least in the beginning). lol, deal with me. I want to share my thoughts on my own story and the Charmed universe.
I have to tell you, I totally agree with you about the 'all powerful' stuff. I didn't like the season 5 Cole, and how there's nothing that he can't do. I despise how the writers set up Wyatt, who has any and every power you could ever dream of, apparently. I dunno. I'm not thrilled about how the show is. So, I wanted a powerful character with a destiny greater than the Charmed Ones, that wasn't too ridiculous. I wanted her to be powerful, but reasonably powerful, if that makes any sense. I have a little sense of reality. Also, she is as vulnerably as everyone one else, she has no shielding protection or anything impossible like that. She just has good instincts (provided mainly by her powers).
As for Phoebe and Cole's kids, they have witch powers along with shimmering and energy balls. And with AJ, he's not as powerful (or doesn't have the variety of powers) as the other three. He's just witch.
Here's how I look at it: For generations, witches had been marrying mortals; they'd have to, because if they married other witches, the Charmed Ones would have more than just Melinda Warren's powers. (I'm not thinking about their newer powers, which we all know are advancements, or are supposed to be anyway. *cough*Phoebe's*cough*)
So, there can't be "half witch" when it comes to a witch mortal marriage. (With other magical beings, I assume it's because of their powers. And demons must not hang with humans alot, so Cole is special.) If there was half witches and you counted all of that, the Charmed Ones would be like, I dunno, 1/20th witch or something.
The way I set up the kids' powers is I just gave each of them part of the Charmed Ones powers, except for Molecular what's-it-called (leave me alone! I'm tired! lol) because I believe that it's a not only special gift to Piper, but something that would be too difficult for a child to handle.
I THINK these are the powers. It's been a while since I worked on parts witht their powers, so I've sort of forgot, lol. I'm remembering at least! Melinda: you know her powers. I wanted her to have the power advancement so she would be powerful enough to complete her destiny, which is more than the Charmed Ones (at least in my story, it's different in the show, of course). You won't find that out for a while. The blue eyes thing, as people call it lol, is just like the Source's black eye thing, it's just a way to represent the power. The white light thing was just an powerful and abrupt blast of telekinesis. I thought it would be a cool way to describe it. I hoped you liked it. Chris: he has the shimmering and energy balls, just like Kristen. As for his witch's power, he can freeze time. I don't know if he has anything else, but he probably does and I'm forgetting. Kristen: I already told you in the last thingy. She also has premonitions and telekinesis. AJ: He has astral projection and levitiation.
Jeez, this is getting long, and I'm not done yet. Thanks if you bothered to read this far, lol.
I wanted to answer the question by charmedone89 asking if I had seen the nominations, and I have to say that I did and I was flabbergasted! I was simply and utterly amazed! I wanted to thank everyone over and over again, but this entry is far too long as it is, lol.
And thanks about the loser thing, lol. I didn't really think anyone would give that much thought, lol, but I am thrilled at your responses to that! It makes me so happy to hear that you all feel that way! thank you many numerous times!
Charmedattict: you think so? I could use some more money, hehehe!
Sorry that this is so long! As a reward for your patience and your dealing with my terrible cliffhangers, I'm going to update, but in another post so it's easier to read! Thank you so much again!

CharmedFan12 Charmed Cafe Member Posts: 367 (3/27/04 12:20 am) Reply Re: GREAT!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An excruciating pain brought Melinda back to, and she saw her mom with the arrow in her hand, and concern etched into her face. She blinked, there was a lot of light in the room, and she noticed finally a face that she had not expected to see. Her dad’s. He smiled a little when he saw that she had finally come to, but it was impossible to miss the concern that he was also clearly feeling. He carefully held his hands out over her wound, and a sense of relief and warm comfort washed through every aching nerve in her body. Melinda looked down to see the blood on her blood soaked shirt being returned to the lesion in her stomach before it disappeared and the pain was completely gone. She took in a deep breath and looked up into her father’s eyes once again and saw that happiness now filled them. “How ya doin’?” he asked. “Better, thanks,” she responded with a smile. She glanced at her mother and saw that she still had the arrow in her hand and was wrapping it in her jacket that she had tied around her waist during the battle. Melinda looked around the room and saw Cole and Bane talking quietly in the corner, Prue, Kristen, and AJ were cleaning up the living room a bit, and Phoebe had Chris on the beaten up couch with a blanket wrapped around him. She turned and looked at her mom in time to see her throw the arrow with the jacket still wrapped around it into the air and blowing it up; the jacket kept the poison from flying anywhere as the arrow was disintegrated. She sighed, and looked around at her daughter before a smile appeared on her face. “Thank god,” Piper said, helping Melinda up to her feet and giving her a hug. “Or, uh, Leo,” she said with a smile. “It was nothing. I just didn’t want anything to happen to her. I’d like to get to know her first,” Leo said with a small laugh. Both Piper and Melinda smiled, and Piper gave Leo a thankful glance before looking back at Melinda with a serious expression. “So what was that back there?”
“What was what?” Piper pointed at the large hole in the wall that Melinda had sent the demons through and held an expression that only a mom could do. “I just got mad at a demon, that’s all,” Melinda said with a shrug. “Oh, ‘that’s all’?” Piper said with a laugh. “Yeah,” Melinda said with another shrug. “That’s nothing to shrug at! That takes a hell of a lot of power to do,” Piper said. “Well, I didn’t really want to say anything, but Aunt Phoebe and I think that I might have had a power advancement,” Melinda responded. “A power advancement?” Leo asked, looking at Melinda. “Well, yeah,” she said, glancing at her father before her mother caught her attention again. “Were you planning on telling us about this?” “Of course I was. How’d you expect me to tell you though? ‘Mom, watch that demon, I have a power advancement!’” “Okay, okay. Fine. But we need to talk about this,” Piper said. “Can we do it later though?”
“Yeah, of course.” Piper reached out and hugged her daughter, and Leo watched on with a smile. They broke apart and walked over to everyone else, and they smiled. “Hey, we missed ya,” Prue said. “Missed you too,” Melinda responded with a laugh. She looked over at Chris, who was still covered in a blanket on the couch, shivering. “What happened to you? You alright?”
“Ye-yeah. There was this-this ice demon thingy and he…he was blasting me with this ice spray thing, but-but before he could turn me into a human Popsicle, Kristen whacked him,” he said with his teeth chattering slightly. “‘Whacked’? Where’d you here that?”
“Kids say it a lot at school, Mom,” Kristen said with a grin. “God, I haven’t heard that in years,” Phoebe said with a small laugh. She looked back up at them and asked something that was on her mind. “So, what have you got planned for tonight?” she asked, particularly to Piper and Leo. “I was thinking that we could go home tonight. Show him around maybe,” Piper said with a smile to Leo, which he lovingly returned. “Well, you guys are welcome here anytime. Just call or orb or something.”
“Thanks, so much Pheebs. We might just take you up on that sometime.”
“You guys might want to be worried about the Source,” Cole said from where him and Bane were talking quietly, where they were almost forgot about. “For all we know he is planning another attack.”
“How can we know for sure?” Leo asked him. “I have connections, not entirely stable ones, but they are reliable for the most part. I guess I could go see if they know anything.”
“No, Cole. I don’t want you doing that. What if you get caught?”
“Oh, bounty hunters gave up looking for me a long time ago, Phoebe.”
“That doesn’t mean that you won’t still get caught!” “We’re just an orb away if there is any trouble,” Piper said, trying to calm them down a little. Phoebe sighed. “Okay. So, uh, when are you going? You can stay as long as you want.”
“Oh, I don’t know. Soon, I guess. There’s a lot that we should talk about.”
“Okay,” Phoebe said with a smile. A half an hour later, Piper, Leo, and Melinda were saying goodbye to everybody and saying their thank you’s. “Thank you so much for letting us stay here.”
“It’s no problem. Like I said before, this is still your house too.”
“Thanks. Uh, do you mind if I have Melinda stay the night here or something tonight maybe?” Piper asked quietly. “Sure, go ahead. But I think that Chris has a cold though,” Phoebe said with a chuckle. “Eh, I hope that he feels better,” Piper said with a smile. “He better, or I might have to give him a kick in the butt.”
“See ya, Aunt Prue,” Melinda said, and they both smiled as they hugged. “See ya, Mel,” Prue responded. “You need anything, give me a call, okay?”
“Sure, thanks.”
Simple things like that were included in the small ‘goodbyes’ and ‘see ya laters’, and not too long after, Melinda lead the way back to Utah, with Leo and Piper seconds behind her, and they arrived in their home. “This is home sweet home,” Piper said, looking up at Leo too see what his expression was as he looked around the place. “It’s great. Small, though,” he joked. “I’m so glad you like it,” Piper said with a sarcastic grin to match her voice, and he laughed. Melinda watched in a happy, content silence as her parents interacted. Leo glanced at her a lot, and smiled to her also, which made that happy feeling grow.

“I thought I heard voices,” a voice said from the front doorway. Melinda looked around to see Betty walk in from her apartment next door; Betty had a spare key of their place as they did her’s, having a trust in their relationship that could not be broken. Leo turned around also, and put on a polite smile as Piper greeted the elder woman. “Hey Betty, how was your weekend?”
“Oh, fine. It was a little quiet over here, though, something hard to adjust to,” Betty said with a wink to Melinda. “So…this must be the famous Leo. My, my, my, you are just as handsome as Piper always said you were,” Betty said with a smile as she walked over to Leo and shook his hand. Leo glanced over at Piper to see her blushing at Betty’s comment, which he smiled at. “Why, thank you ma’am,” Leo responded courteously. Betty chuckled. “Son, call me Betty.”
“Of course, Betty.”
“Betty has been there for me all these years, she has helped me with everything,” Piper said to Leo. “We were there for each other, so don’t think that I didn’t get anything out of it,” Betty joked. Leo gave a small laugh. “Well, I don’t know how to thank you for all that you have helped Piper and Melinda with through these years. For helping with all of the things that I couldn’t help with.” Betty smiled sympathetically. “Of course.” After a couple moments of thoughts, memories, and silent exchanges of emotions through the four people, Betty found it the best time to go, to give them all some time together. Piper and Melinda gave Leo a small tour to match the small apartment, and Piper pulled her daughter aside as Leo looked at some of the pictures on the refrigerator door. “Melinda, would it be possible to have you stay the night again over at the manor? I need to be able to talk with your dad tonight. We need some time together. You guys can hang out tomorrow or something.”
“Yeah, sure,” Melinda said, understanding how important this was for her mom. “Thanks, sweetie,” Piper said, hugging her daughter. “I love you.”
“Right back at ya,” Melinda said with a smile.
Not too long later, Melinda orbed into the foyer of the manor, hoping that she wouldn’t scare anyone with her sudden appearance. “Hello?” she called out. “Oh, hey Melinda. Your mom said that you’d probably pop by,” Phoebe said, walking in from the conservatory. “Yeah, she kicked me out for the night,” Melinda said with a smile. “Well, know that you’re welcome here anytime.”
“I do, thank you.”
“Prue, Bane, and AJ left for the night, so we were just watching an old movie; Kristen and Chris were having fun mocking the special effects,” Phoebe said with a chuckle. “What movie?”
“‘The Terminator’. You seen it?”
“Come on, who hasn’t?” Melinda responded with a laugh. They joined with Cole and the kids, who waved when she came in. Chris was sitting in an armchair that had a hole in it from the fight on the other side of the room from the others, and he looked like he had a bad cold. “What are you doing over there?” Melinda asked with a grin to her cousin. She felt like she had already bonded with her cousins a little bit over the last couple days, at least as friends. “I’m contagious,” he said with a small smile. “Why didn’t your whitelighter heal him? I mean, that’s a demonic effect, isn’t it?”
“Yeah,” Phoebe said. “But good ol’ Bob up there,” she said with a sarcastic sneer, “He said that it should go away in a couple weeks.”
“That’s horrible. A whitelighter should do better than that.”
“Eh, you don’t know Bob,” Cole said, stretching out a little on the couch. “I don’t like him, at all,” Chris added. “He’s kind of nasty to us,” he said, referring to him and his sister. “He’s in love with the Elders. I guess the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree,” Phoebe said, and thoughts of her mom and dad flooded Melinda’s mind.
