Considering that Prue was a vital part of Charmed even beginning, I seriously don't think she falls under the category of "guest" character. Like it or not, without Prue, Charmed wouldn't have existed. Whether someone likes her character or not, just that fact excludes her from the "ridiculous" character category. I would love to say Phoebe and Paige, but I realize without them Charmed wouldn't have A) started and B) continued. A ridiculous character is a *pointless* character. One who was a waste of time on the show. All the sisters had a point as did Leo, Cole, Darryl, Andy and Chris. Bless you for saying that. You took the words right out of my mouth. I do have several characters that I thought were ridiculous, but they're just from Seasons 1-3: *Shapeshifters* - (Thank You For Not Morphing) only one of them actually shapeshifted and all she did was open her mouth and growl. *Dream Sorcerer* - I don't know, something about his voice really got to me. *Jade D'Mon* - was that acting? *Guardian of the Urn* - she was so blah! *Jenny* - what was the point of adding her character on the show? *Kyle (the Chosen One)* - what an insult to Buffy! *Tuatha* - just her name alone irritated me. *Eric Bragg* - that was one innocent I think the Charmed Ones should've turned their backs on. *Marcy Steadwell* - totally annoying. *Max & Cindy* - Cupid should never have let them meet. They were a disaster together.

Ridiculous character number 1) Dex - really didnt like him. Just no point Number 2) Richard - didnt contribute anything to the show.

ok, why is everyone bashing billie? sure maybe she tried to kill the charmed ones, but before that she was really funny and sweet. plus, she was helping the charmed ones have normal lives! also in some situtations, she was funny and sometimes she even caused problems, which is a good change from vanquishing the same old demons! it was a nice change! just because she messed up once, everyone hates her! COLE tried to kill the charmed ones and phoebe especially! why doesnt everyone bash him?! i think it's also ridiculous to hate her when she was already on the show. theres nothing anyone can do about that.

I thought Billie was really cool, but that might have been because I liked her in another show she was in (8 Simple Rules - she played Bridget Hennessy). I found Brody, Coop and Jenny annoying. I just did NOT like them

I can't say that I thought Jenny was ridiculous. I found her to be a typical early teen that was a lead in for the relationship between Dan and Piper. In fact I didn't find anyone truly ridiculous but annoying does come to mind.
Billie is at the head of my short list. I found her to be nothing more than filler-riff for writers that couldn't come up with better ideas. The only positive thing about her is that she distracted me from wanting to smack Phoebe for her me first/everything is about me attitude.
This is not to say I didn't love and enjoy the character but she did become a little self-centered and I think part of that was because Piper had often made excuses for her. It was Prue that generally kept her in line and between those two I saw Phoebe really learning to grow and accept responsibility. Once Prue was out of the picture I saw Phoebe reverting to her former self only as an older version. So here is a question for all of those who think Phoebe's character faultered....
If Prue had lived do you think by season 8 we would have been viewing the same girl.

No, I don't think we would've. I think that Prue would've realized that Cole was possessed by The Source, and unlike with Paige, Piper and Phoebe would've believed their big sister and Phoebe would've used her love for Cole to help "depossess" him. With her true love at her side, Phoebe wouldn't have had her visionquest and wouldn't have spent the rest of the series hunting for the sperm donor for her daughter, which was a lot of what made her so self-centered. Prue also would've continued to help Phoebe accept responsiblity, so she wouldn't have been Little Miss Itsnevermyfault as well as PhoeME/Freebie. Piper, too, would not have deteriorated into Miss Whinealot. She would've been allowed to continue on as the heart of the family and the heart of her family, being able to concentrate on Leo and her boys rather than the crappy leader of the Charmed Ones that was never her role and instead was Prue's. Had Prue not died, we probably would have only had 5 seasons of Charmed rather than 8, but they would've been much, much higher quality. This has absolutely nothing to do with Paige, my favorite sister after Prue died, but plenty to do with who Prue was and who Piper and Phoebe were when Prue was around. Had Paige--who was raised as an only child and who was an assistant social worker, and who never should've been treated as the baby sister that she wasn't--been allowed to take over her natural role as leader of The Charmed Ones, I think that both Piper and Phoebe would've continue to grow into strong women rather than regress into spoiled brats who needed to be given a spanking and sent to their rooms without any dinner! As one of my older siggies put it: LIKE A CHARACTER LOBOTOMY, courtesy of Brad Kern!I miss our snarky Piper who cared about innocents more than herself, our smart Paige who had graduated from college and should've been a social worker and our sweet Phoebs who loved magic more than sex! Did they miss Prue! Me, too! (Thanks to Primrose_Empath for the beautiful siggy!) Back to the subject at hand, the most rediculous Charmed character had to be Billie. To think that all of The Charmed Ones would've been more like her had Kern created them, since that was his idea of the perfect witch (since she would've been the star of the spinoff he wanted so badly) makes me shudder!

Greetings Esmeralda and thank you for the response. I delayed my reply as I am not sure this is the correct place to post it, but I wasn't sure where to go, and I didn't want you to think I had not viewed your post.
First, interesting observation regarding Phoebe's sperm quest. I hadn't given that much thought BUT, if you ponder this topic, one has to wonder if the premonition was beneficial. I would say no, since it was too much of a distraction toward her life, liberty, pursuit of happiness and squashing nasty demons. By the time she received this future bit on knowledge I think maybe she should have gained enough wisdom to know that if something is meant to be it will. Nothing she did would change the outcome, and trying to stick the square peg into the round hole without the proper equipment might just have delayed or destroyed the vision. In the end the chapter unfolded as it should and not because she joined 20 dating services. Also, perhaps she received this gift to help her know that in time she would find love and have a family. I would have taken it as a blessing and relaxed.
Of course we cannot slight Phoebe for this......Hello Mr. Kern and your gaggle of insipid writers...
I loved your insight on how the sisters changed after Prue's demise. I never really took the time to analyze their place in the family before and after. Brilliant!! And yes, I see this now.
Piper was never the older sister and that was not her station in life. She was ill prepared for the job. So were the writer's, it would seem.
Phoebe needed both sisters to mature and she was denied that.
Paige should not have been treated like the younger sister except in the area of witchcraft. Something she knew little about. I mean when she came to maturity and responsibility she was head and shoulders above Phoebe.
Less seasons.....better content......Yes!!!
Staying on target....okay....for those of you who think Billie is getting to much bad cyber-space copy. What do you feel she brought to the show? Her contributions are what exactly? Did you find her sensible, dependable, and responsible? Would you trust her, have her in your home? She wasn't a child, so after being with the sisters for so long and finally finding a sister she really didn't know do you think she acted with good judgment in mind? Just curious.....
I see this is not generating any responces....how can that be? I thought for sure some of the Billie fan's out there would jump all over this...NO??
While I am here I just have to comment on Cara Halliwell's opening remark..
"I don't know why everyone is bashing Billie...well okay she did try to kill the sisters but in the beginning she was so sweet....." I admit I was only watching the show hit and miss at the time but for the sections I did not view I think you filled in the blanks very nicely.....In the beginning she was Goldie Hawn and by the final she had become the female counter part of Charlie Manson. Yes!
Now I can only speak for myself but Cara, if you and I were friends and I moved you into my home only to discover that you were planning to bash my head in with a shovel I think I might have to rethink the relationship.....MLM

I hate Billie because I can think of several people whose stories could have been expanded or kept throughout the show. However, as much as I hate her- Billie is the reason Charmed was brought back for the final season. Basically, Kern was told to get a new fresh face for Charmed or it won't be picked up again. However, I think Kyra the Seer would have made a great storyline. I think extending her story and bringing more episodes with her would have been great- especially since she was seen before. Sheila and Darryl could have been shown at home with their children talking about the sisters. Perhaps we could see some of their fights. Perhaps demons use Darryl to their advantage... I think there was no reason to bring in a fresh face if we still need to know more about the old ones. My biggest problem with Billie is Leo. She is the reason he was frozen because they could no longer afford him. Prue ridiculous? No way. I wish there was permission to use flashbacks or she would have agreed to come in for several episodes.

i agree that brody was too official and serious to fit. and billie in the black outfit she wore at first was not very original. but i think billie grew in the stories lines she had. jung and the restless, where she visits TCO's dreams, is very good. is the one where the demon is trapping whitelighters by taking their pictures is good too. billie helps sam's charge who has freed himself after being trapped since the '50's. kaley cuoco's next show is a current hit "big bang theory" which might as well be called the kaley cuoco show. ppl like her.

As a comedian she's fantastic, just like she was in 8 Simple Rules. In a drama like Charmed, she stunk and was one of the most ridiculous characters ever created for the show.

The three Stillman sisters were annoying though - so much but Billie got me more, I think. Yes, she gave the sisters some freedom but her whole story wouldn't fit with me well in S8. Way too quick and with all might!!

I've never counted someone who I didn't like or was annoying as ridiculous. To me, that's saved for ones who just didn't seem to fit the show. And for me, that was all the fantasy creatures in S5 - they totally took away what made Charmed Charmed. Ditto for Wyatt and Billie - for them to be more powerful than the Charmed Ones just made absolutely no sense and made them ridiculous.

Es ha, I thought you were talking about Sheridan and how she used to be in 8 Simple Rules! But Kaley..yeah definitely more suited to sitcoms I did like Billie, but now I see why so many people didn't.

LOL! That makes your question make more sense!
Yeah, if they hadn't made Billie so powerful (instead if they'd only given all that power to Christy), I think I would've liked her more, even though Kaley did a horrible job acting her out. But then Paige is my favorite of the second set of sisters, even if I think Rose did a horrible job acting her out.
