Was Cole Evil?

He is human (ish) and not harming anyone, just wants Phoebe back. The only time he does wrong is when Phoebe challenges him to try and get her to vanquish him.

If he wanted Phoebe back so badly, why didn't he bother to explain to her that he had no control over The Source's actions in late-Season 4?

And while many of you might have gotten a giggle out of Cole turning Darryl into a watercooler, I doubt Darryl himself found it very funny.

Why is it that the Charmed Ones get excoriated by fans every time they use their magic against someone without that person's consent...but when Cole does it, people just make excuses for him?

in all reality can you blame the poor girl for wanting it to end? cole was no patron saint himself!

Still though, The Source took him over & knew they would kill him if they knew he took over Cole's body. "Cole" himself I believe would of told her, but it was The Source that hid it from her. He was just in Cole's body.

I just think that the charmed ones could of done a lot more to actually help cole. You all say that he could of took the time to explain what had happened, well if the Charmed ones had given him that chance then yea he could of done, but they didnt.

the charmed ones gave him plenty of chances throughout the seasons. and there were several occasions which he could have told the girls or phoebe the truth.

they could not just let him live, he would never have left phoebe alone.

and if you remember back to cole's final vanquish, it was in an alternate universe where paige was dead, and phoebe was once again evil. the only way to get out of this universe was to kill cole

Hang on are you forgetting that before that in A Witchs Tail, Sam I Am and Sympathy For The Demon when Cole tried to explain to Phoebe she gave him the brush off. He had tried on many occasions to explain things to her, but she didnt want to know. She was so quick to judge him by his past ( and yes people that is what it is THE PAST) that she was ignnorrant to the fact that Cole was a changed man/demon/avatar/person ( ya can never really tell what he is can ya?)

the sisters saw him as a threat...he came back unvanquishable! that screams danger..... especially if he has his heart broken.

In early Season 5 he was not a threat, he wanted to be a allie. It wasnt until Paige tried to vanquish him that he finally acted as a threat but it was provoked. In Sam I Am, he was trying to kill himself, not them.
But like i say in Early Season5 he was not a threat.

he really did not want to be aligned with the charmed ones, he just wanted to get back into phoebe's "good books" in hope that they could reconcile.

Exactly. You can even go as far as saying that in "Sympathy for the Demon" he was trying to protect himself and the other innocents from the bad guys.
Phoebe was always always always arrogant of the fact that Cole was trying to change. She never really took the time to take a step back and think "hang on, he could be changed" maybe if she had been more accepting of Cole, it wouldnt have driven him crazy!

Exactly. The reason Cole went mad was because of Phoebe.

And Pubsey he did try and be alliened to The charmed Ones. In Siren Song he came and offered his help.

but phoebe feared his power. she feared that if he could not control it, she would put herself and her sisters in mortal danger.
and can you blame the sisters for thinking this? can you Blame piper and paige wanting phoebe to stay well away from cole? phoebe fears that by staying with cole she will eventually be pulled back into a life of evil, forcing her to chose between her husband and her sisters. and maybe next time, she wont have the chance to chose who to side with. she may end up being responsible for the death of her sisters as she did not stand up to cole in the first place. how does she know he wont become possesed again? how does she know if he will be able to control his demonic urges? what happenes if this power is not enough and he craves more?
phoebe would be stupid to walk such a dangerous road.

and then there is the non magical side of things. No means No. harassment from an EX lover says nothing about love. it just scares phoebe away even more.

then this fear is later proven
