I can sorta understand why she lied to her sisters. My highschool sweetheart, my family didn't think he was good for me at ALL. I admit, I lied about seeing him during school, pretended it was another friend, & at times, I did a three way so if my mom wanted to hear the voice of who I was talking to, my female friend would start talking. I did that for 2yrs. 16yrs old to 18yrs old.They turned out they were right, but I thought I was in love. So I can see why Phoebe did that. She didn't believe he hurt her or her sisters. If she believed in her heart he hurt them, she wouldn't of let him go free. So she didn't exactly put there lives in danger. I did the same as well, well I am doing it! LOL! ;D |

Yes and no - it helps. But Piper and Prue successfully vanquished him outside the hospital - that is one of the reason the Source agreed to rewind to time.

Actually Shax did need the power of three to be vanquished, as we saw in charmed again part 1/2 Actually he didn't. As Vengence said, Prue and Piper were able to do it without Phoebe in AHBL. Those 2 alone were powerful enough to vanquish him. If it were just Piper and Phoebe, there wouldn't have been enough power so they did need Paige for that small power boost she gave them in Charmed Again. |

I think she is so selfish because she was the one who the all oloved and knew. Also she probably relyied on her sisters too much which could have changed her behaviour and she might have been turned into such a selfish person.

However, she also had her moments of profundity such as when she campaigned against a ban on breast feeding or when she led the Charmed Ones in the confrontation against the Avatars.

And, who's to argue that in the wake of Cole, it wasn't wise for her to focus on her own needs. She obsessed about them at times. And, she was put on a pedestal at the Bay Mirror, especially by one Jason Dean. That's a rush to the head if I never heard of one.

I'd like to make an over riding point that I've tried saying on numerous occasions - they're all selfish.
Phoebe because of her constant search for the father of her child, using her empathy to do so and sometimes even ignoring her Charmed duties because of it. However when she left Prue and Piper to fight Shax, she left with their blessing - it was simply a misjudgement not selfishness.
Piper is selfish because of her long and weiry search for Leo, putting them needs before that of innocents. She also used magic for personal gain in Season Eight (something she wouldn't of done two or three years prior. Odd isn't it!)
Paige - there isn't to pin point why she is selfish but she certaintly not selfless. She used her powers on numerous occasions for her own personal gain and that wasn't just through spells either. It wasn't actually until Season Eight (unlike her sisters) that she became less selfish - helping charges, saving innocents, protecting Billie.
But the biggest most selfish act of all was faking their own deaths, something which they all took part it. You can't just say Phoebe is selfish without looking at her equally selfish sisters!

I don't think lieing to her sisters made her selfish. The word selfish means: "devoted to or caring only for oneself; concerned primarily with one's own interests, benefits, welfare, etc., regardless of others." not "a person who tells lies." Phoebe was in love with Cole, love makes you do stupid things and if being in love made her selfish than nearly every person in the world is selfish. Phoebe was just doing what she thought was best - even if it wasn't. Phoebe was never really selfish but she wasn't selfless either - which apparently we believe the sisters should be. NEWSFLASH - they're all selfish. No one can be selfless. Someone can not be selfish as the person standing next them - but everyone is selfish at least once in their life. It's in our human nature to look out for the welfare of oneself rather than the neighbour sitting next to us. Phoebe was no more selfish than Piper or Paige. Prue was the nearest to being selfless but again - she wasn't. Yes Phoebe was selfish with magic but turning reporters in rats isn't? This is one of the most sensible posts I have ever read. |
