If Cole was guilty of putting Phoebe through a lot of crap . . . you might as well say that Phoebe was guilty of doing the same to Cole.
Even Piper and Leo put each other through a lot of crap that DID NOT bring out the best in each other.
But to blame Cole for Phoebe's selfishness? Give me a break! The only one responsible was Phoebe Halliwell.
I've recently lost an aunt (who was a year older) who was more like a sister to me. I've also lost a grandmother in recent years. I KNOW what it means to lose family. So please, spare me your comments.

well, did you lose them suddenly, and without any warning?
would you do almost anything to get them back? especially immediately after losing them?
i am sure that if you loved them, you would have done anything for them to return, especially straight after their death.
piper was given a way for leo to return. she took it. can you blame her?

I don't. I have posted some criticisms about Cole that others have disagreed about. I'm not saying that Piper is the worst character on the show. But she has flaws. And every time I mention them, someone posts an excuse for her behavior. I'm a huge Piper/Holly fan and I couldn't agree more with ljones. Piper is who she is. I personal think there something wrong with every character . All the characters have something unique about them and Piper really does. You don't have to argue with other people because they think that a specific character is perfect or the best or the prettiest. You can disagree. |

Let's get back to the Phoebe thing.
Phoebe does show signs of selfishness as well as the other sisters. They are human after all. That is understandable.
I think that Phoebe's just tired of being a witch and being in danger all the time. When she learned about a possible baby and future husband, she jumped at it because she wanted her happily ever after.
That was most obvious in Season 8. She was so against being a witch again and regaining her life.
Maybe the reason so many people think she's selfish was that she rarely shows regret for her actions.
"Rick's dead, oh well."
"Cole's evil. He deserves it."
"We deserve normal lives no matter who gets hurt."
Stuff like that.

Degrade you? All I had stated was that I didn't care what you think about Piper. I also added that if we don't agree on a topic, we don't agree. Are upset that I won't agree with you? Ah Puseby! I wonder when you would put in your two cents. By the way, I suggest you think before accusing me of something you are definitely guilty of. I may not like Phoebe, but I don't see anything wrong with her desire to have a life other than being a witch. The problem with Phoebe is that sometimes, her selfishness ends up hurting others, without her even caring about hurting others. Piper was the same in "Once Upon a Time". |

I don't think Phoebe is selfish at all. She always cared about their innocents. The breakup with Cole was something she HAD to do, to protect her family.

I think they've all been selfish at times. Not just Phoebe. And like you said, they are only human. Elders and Demons and Whitelighters seem to expect their lives to consist of nothing but demon fighting and being full-time witches. Not realizing they are human witches. All witches are humans. Why would being a "full time witch" consist of hunting demons? Phoebe broke up with Cole because she was too immature and too scared to learn what had really happened to Cole in late Season 4. She also blamed him for her becoming the Source's Queen, instead of facing the reality that she had made the choice to become his queen, herself. |

Phoebe broke it off with cole and gave up the man she loved because he was the source of all evil and slowly trying to make her evil. How was that selfish? When she lied to her sisters about killing him after they found out he was a demon was selfish. When she tried to be a charmed one and the queen of the underworld was i think a little selfish and misguided.

Phoebe broke up with Cole because he betrayed her trust with a fake marriage and an unwanted pregnancy, how could a normal woman have again confidence in a man so ready to use her for his own purposes?
