Giving her healing made sense though especially once she became a full time whitelighter. She needed it for the job. Well, IMOHO, that was one of Charmed's spin-off's biggest mistakes. Neither Chris or Paige should've been given charges while they were still alive. If they weren't given charges, Paige could remain CHarmed and Chris could remain just a son of a Charmed One with no need of extra whitelighter powers.

I wish they had never been whitelighters. Whitelighters are supposed to be dead. Hence the reason why introducing Paige helped to ruin Charmed and why I think her introduction jumped them into an alternate universe where whitelighters didn't have to be dead, just have a whitelighter for a dad. Being a witch with a single whitelighter power would've made her a half-whitelighter. Having all of them made her a living whitelighter who could also cast Power of Three spells, because, oh, yes, that's right, she's also a Warren on her mother's side.

As for Paige, well, they needed another sister, after Shannen got fired. This wasn't like what happened with BH 90210, where the loss of Shannen didn't invalidate the whole premise of the show (since 90210 was an ensemble show). The whole concept of Charmed was built around the Power Of Three and now one of said three was gone.
Then someone no doubt remembered P3H2O, in which Patty had an affair with her white lighter, Sam, and said: "What if that affair produced a daughter." and thus the idea of Paige was born. They were in a desperate situation then, they needed a new sister, and this seemed to be the best way to do it. Could they have come up with a better solution, maybe. However, they just didn't have the time.

I believe that all of them were susceptible to giving in to evil . . . on an equal level. Human beings are not naturally good, despite what many of us want to believe. I don't care how much human blood Cole had in him or whether he had human blood at all. Like ALL SENTIENT BEINGS, he had a 50/50 potential for good and evil. The Charmed Ones and Leo later proved they could be just as destructive or morally low as Cole.
And yes, I believe Cole was possessed by the Source in late Season 4. There were too much evidence in the show's transcripts that indicated he was. I suspect Kern decided to pretend otherwise in post-Season 4 so that Phoebe would never mourn Cole and would have an excuse to date other men . . . right away. This is writing of the worst kind.
Nor do I believe that Brad Kern was solely to blame. So was Constance Burge. She had contributed a good deal of bad writing to the show. Perhaps not as much as Kern, since she wasn't in charge of the show that long. But she did contribute . . . especially in Season 2.

Am I the only one who actually likes Paige? I do love the first three seasons of Charmed, but I don't think that introduction of Paige helped to ruin the show. I adore Rose's character (as much as I adore Shannen's) and to me season 4 was as good and interesting as season 3. Her interacting with sisters was quite entertaining although I admit they didn't have as great sisterly chemistry as they did with Shannen. Holly Marie Combs once said (and I think she's been really objective): "What Shannen, Alyssa and I had was a very special chemistry. It was not manufactured, it was not forced, it was very easy, it was a lighting in a bottle. And we got very lucky with Rose because she didn't try to be a part of something, she was so individual, she was like 'This is me, this is who I am' and she was truly in her own little splendour, and it worked for her character, because her character had a different dad, and she was kinda the outsider, and thank the Lord for Rose because I don't think that anybody else could have pulled it off". By season 3 the show had found its unique niche and atmosphere and kept it until season 5 when characters were totally ruined with the introduction of Wyatt.

No, you're not the only one, I really like Paige too, a lot. She's my second favorite character on the show. I don't think there's a single season where I don't like her.

You definitely aren't the only one, she's my favorite character on the show. I thought her introduction was done really well. And I liked that she was an individual who didn't rely on her sisters all the time.

I think in general Paige was very well received by the fandom. You had some hardcore Shannen fans who flat out refused to watch anyone replace her, but otherwise people seemed pretty accepting of Paige. She's considered by many (me included) to be the best character in season 4 and the most tolerable character in the show's second half.
I think as with many things in Charmed, it's more a frustration thinking of wasted potential and what could have been.

Quality of S1-3 vs S4-8 can be summarized from observing Phoebe's character. S1-3 Phoebe: "We need to help the innocents." S4-8 Phoebe: "I need to write my column. And find the future daddy of my future daughter. Don't have time to help anybody. Sigh..."

I understand her "closed off-ness" 'cause her relationship/experience with Cole changed her, to where she became less about being excited about a magical life and trying to catch up to reality.
