I myself think she cries way to much i mean being the eldest sister has a lot of frustration and then loosing her husband and having to tell Wyatt everything will workout I can understand but I have seen her cry to much when Leo is taken away,When He himself accepts to be an elder,when he is finally sent back and is taken again,when the angel of death is after him,when she has to freeze him to save him,when the angel of destiny too him away again....Many times is to sum it all up.I mean yes i really care about Leo but I also really got tired of hearing it.Leo is important to Piper and Wyatt I understand but she shouldn't have cried so much she should have stayed strong talked with Wyatt sat down with her sisters and had a conversation about how she was feeling.Then when Billie's subject came they shouldn't have taken Billie in.If I would have been the writer's I wouldn't have even created Billie to much for the show anyways! But anyways I know how I feel about this situation ! How do you Feel? Do you think Piper cries to much? |

actually they have had mostly the same except Paige.Phoebe went through her husband's death 4 times that is a lot worse then she went through about 20 men then almost gave up on love she may not have a son but still Phoebe had it bad to Piper still has no reason to nearly be crying all the time!

You really think Piper cries to much. As piper76 said she is the oldest sister and should be the strongest which she was. Did she try to avoid killing Billie and Christy like Phoebe and Paige? No. If I was her I would cry just as much. She has been through so much. All of them have. She cried as much as she should have, she would be kind of fake if she didnt cry as much. Every time something happened that she cried for I also cried.

i agree and with everything they all went through im suprised the others didnt cry more. piper didnt cry too much it was pretty normal how many times she did and shes just more emotional than her sisters nothing wrong with that. but i do see your point if u arnt a huge fan of piper it could be considered annoying.

I think she has been through a hell of a lot. That gives her all the right to cry. I mean how can u not cry when u have seen your your sister die (Prue). Then to see your other sister be the queen of the underworld(phoebe). To top the constant fighting with demons all the time you have lost the love of your life  DO U AGREE!!!! |

No what i'm saying is I was crying with her the first like 3 seasons then for some reason I got really bored with the point of her draggin on about Leo and then crying because of it! charmedmagic1 they have all been through a lot but Phoebe,Paige,and Prue didn't cry near as much!

Ever think that maybe Piper's just the crying type? She's far more emotional than Prue and Paige. Those two try their hardest to be tough and not let others see their emotions. Phoebe hasn't nearly been given enough to cry about. Yes she's been dumped more than I can count on all my fingers but compared to having your husband ripped away from you repeatedly....

Piper was always the most emotional of the sisters. She always wore her heart on her sleeve. Whether you lost interest in why she was crying is one thing, different from whether or not she had plenty of reasons to cry about. I'm sure we're missing a bunch of episodes in which she cried some more:

oh ok so Cole doesn't count as Phoebe's husband i guess then?OK i guess he never existed.I mean Leo is awesome and Piper is my second fave but I still think she was way to emotional sometimes i felt it was fake the best cry i seen her do was in oh crap the one were Leo died to to show Phoebe the truth of the avatars oh i can't remember but that eppi!

This is Piper. If you felt it was fake, fine, that's your opinion. To others of us, Piper (Holly) does amazing with the emotional scenes because she can pull it off and make it believable to many people. |

In all honesty I thought that was the most forced one of all. All the rest seemed to come very natural and very appropriate for the circumstances. Piper was even described as the most motherly and most emotional. When you break it down and look at the sisters childhoods, they all seem to fit exactly how they would have been formed. For instance, Prue was the oldest and remembers the most about their mother and when their father left. Also since she was the oldest she took on the responsibility to help look after and protect Piper and Phoebe and to help Grams. So her emotions would be more surpressed, though when they come out they were AMAZING to watch. Just to see this strong persona breakdown always made for a brilliant Shannen performance! Phoebe was the youngest (of the originals) and scarcely remembers anything. She had a grandmother and an older sister looking out for her which resulted in her need to rebel and be the most idealistic. Wanting to go out and see the world (hence her leaving for NY). She didn't have any responsibilities to hold her back and no true memories of her parents. Paige, well, not a lot of explanation needed here. She grew up through her teenage years with a family that loved her and was definitely considered her parents whether they gave birth to her or not. Something I loved about Paige (or TPTB possibly) was that they never disgraced her adoptive parents memory but having her last name changed from Matthews to Halliwell. But truly no tramatic experiences in early childhood. Resulted in a caring sister who wanted to help others, from her whitelighter side, and in that way she was a lot like Prue. Putting innocents first, only not having the burden Prue had. And so that leaves Piper. The main topic of discussion here. Piper was about 2 years younger than Prue. She has memories of her mother and father, though not nearly as strong as Prue's but she clearly remembers the day her father left (as seen in Sympathy for the Demon) after arguing with her grams. She had to watch her sister turn from best friend/playmate (that we saw in That 70's Show) to someone she now had to listen to on other matters than just who gets to hide and who gets to seek. She couldn't share her feelings towards Phoebe about their childhood because Phoebe didn't have any memories at all so she kept her emotions about that bottled. I can definitely see Piper as the type that would go and cry in her room alone so as not to alert anyone else. As the years passed she would learn to express her emotions more openly which is what we're talking about. Overall, looking at all 4 sisters ages and experiences, Piper's case she was at the key age where a little girl needs a mother and a father but instead lost one and watched one walk out on her, her grandmother and her 2 sisters. Most of her major breakdowns came when it was regarding family, I.E, Prue's death, Gram's death, losing Leo (pick a time). And of course in their line of work, when they fail to save an innocent they were meant to protect, I.E, her doctor in Astral Monkey. |

I agree with her, I think Piper is amazing at her crying scenes and I believe that she cried under all the right circumstances. She thought Leo was her soul mate and he DID agree to be her life partner so she felt it was a violation of his vow when he agreed to be an Elder and of course that he was walking out on his little son who does not understand. The same goes for Vaya Con Leos. I also agree that I don't understand your Cole reference. Why would he not count as a husband of Phoebe's? They had a normal loving relationship and a normal wedding like everyone else on earth. How does that not count him just because he is a demon? |

I think the reason why Piper cried so much is because Holly did those sob scenes so well, the same way goofy things kept happening to Phoebe because Alyssa did comedy so well and dramatic things kept happening to Prue without her having to cry because Shannen did drama so well without needing to cry and because Constance and her writers wrote drama so well. I don't think Brad Kern knew how to write drama that wasn't set up to make us feel sorry for the character. He wrote soap operas better than drama.
That's why people like Piper and like Chris--we both kept going "Oh, poor Piper!" and "Oh, poor Chris!" There was no other reason to like them because except for having bad things happen to them and feeling sorry for themselves, they had no other good qualities once Piper became the oldest.
