Yeah but it came back with Vampire Diaries and The Originals Not really. Both are mainly shows about vampires with witches as a side thing. Every post-Charmed show that was actually CENTERED around witches failed after only 1-2 seasons: Eastwick, The Secret Circle, and Witches of East End.

From "Black as Cole." It was the demonic half of Cole, aka. Belthazor, that Phoebe's potion vanquished. The dialog pretty clearly states it. It's implied even further in "Charmed and Dangerous" when Cole takes in the Hollow: The loss of his demon half is what allowed Cole to be possessed by the Source so easily. He only thought he was helping Phoebe and her sisters by taking in the Hollow. Es, I think you're letting your hatred of Cole's character blind you to the facts. Small problem. P HYSIOLOGICALLY speaking he was no longer Belthazor. But the INSTINCT of the demon was still there. It was something he'd lived with for over a hundred years. He was born both demon and human. It was literally part of him. It wasn't something he could just instantly throw away because the demonic part of his blood, the associated powers and the hulking red form were gone. He felt lost as a powerless mortal. He openly admitted it might be a problem for him in that very scene you quoted in "Black as Cole". He even bought a gun because of it. It's both nature and nurture that gave room for something else to take hold in Cole's body. The power in his blood was gone, which left him half-empty. But he craved to be made "whole" again because the instinct remained.

That and the fact that he was *not* possessed, but only compartmentalizing the Source's powers and what they allowed him to do. It was all his fault and not Phoebe's. Her fault came from enabling him when she became her queen and the fact that she could not accept her own fault for her own turn to evil - thanks to her sister and half-sister enabling her. I so wish we could've seen Season Five with Prue... Or even better - if the writers from Seasons One and Two (which *does* include Brad Kern...) could've used the same basic plotline but written the episodes.... I truly believe that had they, we would not be having these discussions.

Can we just retitle this thread "Cole is the True Big Bad of Charmed" and be done with it? Seriously, what's with all the Cole-bashing on this site recently? Run out of insults for Chris? Shame, I enjoyed all of those shows...perhaps the teen drama of TSC a little less but still. Guess people would rather have their vampires. Luckily, the vampire fad's pretty much dead, too. The only reason Vampire Diaries and The Originals are still around is because they're still among the CW's top-rated shows. They could do a Reality Show: The Real Wiccans Of Los Angeles County ROFL!

I get the feeling that Es would like to do to Cole, Chris, and Piper what the Romanian people did to Nicolae and Elena Ceaucescu on Christmas Day in 1989.
I wonder if either of these shows would have made it on the air if Twilight had not made vampires "cool" again.

I guess that Cole felt the same way like Leo did after both became mortal. Unfortunately, the Seer used Cole's longing for a new "sense" in his life to her advantage with taking in the Hollow and with that the old Source's power. It was only a matter of time before the Source would have won over Cole's body, hence the referring to himself in a third person. Cole battled but he lost. The one thing that remained was his love for Phoebe and so making her the Queen of the Underworld but that was their common decision.

I can understand if that potion had rid Cole of his powers - including the ability to transform into Belthazor. But to rid him of his demonic half? That sounds so illogical . . . and wishful thinking. Being part demonic is what Cole was. That was a part of his DNA. A natural part of him. And the fact that Phoebe could never accept this in the end disgusts me, because her attitude only told me that she never knew what real love was. She never understood it. She wanted illusions and guarantees.

BLACK AS COLE
Cole: For all intense purposes I've been a demon for over a hundred years, it's all I've ever know. Or been. What am I supposed to do now? Who am I?
A PAIGE FROM THE PAST
Cole: Being human was supposed to make my life easier, instead it's getting worse by the minute.
Piper: Yeah, I know the feeling.
Cole: I swear, Phoebe was closer to marrying me when I was a demon.
Piper: Well, to be honest, Cole, getting busted by the cops is not the best way to win her over.
Paige: Oh, Piper, gosh, I'm sure Cole already feels like a big enough loser. I know I would.
Cole: Well, thanks a lot.
........................
Cole and Belthazor are the same person, Cole lost the ability to trasform into Belthazor, his powers, but he was always Belthazor too and it was difficult, as if he had lost a part of himself It was a mistake to become humans:Phoebe had no doubt about their love, had only doubts about marriage because she was afraid of marriage
Phoebe for many years appears to be overawed by the fear of losing those she loves, typical of those who grew up without a mother; Cole'ld have to wait to talk about marriage and instead to strengthen their couple, without hurry, without the certainty of having to give up his powers Phoebe didn't ask it, Phoebe asked only time, a reasonable request I think

From "MUSE TO MY EARS", the episode that followed "BLACK AS COLE":
Regardless of whether Phoebe was ready for marriage or not, she obviously saw Cole's demonic half as an obstacle to their relationship. It's strange that she never considered the possibility that her being a witch could have endangered his life in the future, if he had continued with no powers.

Black as Cole: hoebe: Oh, yeah, that. Um…I’m not exactly sure. He asked me to marry him.
Piper: What? He-he did what? He did?
Phoebe: More or less.
Piper: Well, what did you say?
Phoebe: I didn’t know what to say. I was too surprised. I mean, with all my power of premonition and I never saw that one coming.
Piper: Uh, wow, I-I don’t think a witch is allowed to marry a demon. Honey, we can’t have a demon in the family.
Phoebe: Piper, that is the least of my concerns right now.
Piper: Well, don’t kid yourself. If you decide to go through with this, it’s gonna be a source of huge concerns. Especially for them. (She points up.)
Phoebe: I have to be concerned with my own concerns. I love Cole, you know I do, BUT DEMON STUFF ASIDE, I NEVER THOUGHT OF MYSELF AS THE MARRYNG TIPE YOU KNOW IT'S NOT SOMETHING I FANTASISED ABOUT. EVER
Piper: So then, what are you gonna tell him? Phoebe: I don’t know.
Phoebe did't think that Cole's demonic side could influence their relationship

Muse To My Ears:
Phoebe: Surprise!
Cole: You look beautiful.
Phoebe: Thank you. (She picks up two glasses of wine and hands one to Cole.) I sent everyone away. So we could celebrate.
Cole: What are we celebrating?
Phoebe: Cole, you're finally fully human. No more demon half means no more obstacles for our relationship. Yay us. (She clinks their glasses and takes a sip. Cole doesn't.) Uh, that was a toast and usually after the clinking part you take a little sip.
Cole: I don't know if sending your sisters away was a good idea. I don't have powers anymore and I can't protect you if there's an attack. ____________________________________________________________ She did think it was an obstacle of some sort.

NO she was glad AFTER he became full human, but this had nothing to do with her esitation respecting his mariage proposal
She was clear, she'ld face Cole's demon side problem, it wasn't so easy to face her fear of a marriage
Phoebe has always felt herself as a person who would never be part of a couple, as she told Cupid in Heartbreak City
Cupid: So tell me, what has not loving gotten you?
Phoebe: It's kept me safe.
Cupid: Safe from what?
Phoebe: From people leaving.
Cupid: Your mother?
Phoebe: Yeah.
Cupid: And your father?
Phoebe'ld have loved Cole even if he stayed half demon

For all of her intelligence, Phoebe can be quite dumb. Really? That's not the impression I got. I'm not saying that it was Phoebe's fault that Cole became the Source. He was the idiot who allowed the Seer to manipulate him into using the Hollow so that he could save the sisters with the Source's powers. But I don't think she ever really accepted him for what he was - half-demon/half-human. And if she couldn't accept that, then she didn't really love him.

She fell in love with Mr Cole Turner, not knowing he was half human/half demon, yet he must have caught her interest quite well. With dating and later even marrying, though she was more concerned about herself than Cole maybe. Clearly, her love life would effect the Power of Three in whatever way and we did see it didn't work so well, with everything! Phoebe could have helped here but she didn't. End of story!

Because she thought she did, but she didn't - just like all the guys she had a strong sexual attraction for, she thought that that was love... Her reaction to him in Season Five shows that she never truly did. Had he stayed vanquished when he should've in Season Four (the demonic wasteland was one of Kern's more stupider concepts), I might think differently. But as is...

You mean in that stupid manner in which the sisters never had the brains to find out how he had become the Source in the first place?
