If Prue Returned...

Marqelle, although the legal problems with Shannen were the actual reason for omitting Prue's photo on the wall....from a storytelling perspective, one could argue that there were no pictures of Prue on that wall because Piper had hung other pictures of Prue elsewhere in the manor.

Perhaps the photos on the wall should have been left out, altogether, if Kern could not use Shannen's images.

no i liked the wall pictures. but i think they should have also included some show recaps, like piper and leo's marriage, paige's transformation into a witch, even prue as the damn dog! fans would get it! they could have even showed prue's tombstone and funeral, even if it only was a 2 sec part.

to be honest, i dont thin it is right for prue to come back as anything more than a cameo appearence in one scene as a ghost in the crystals. she should have told prue and phoebe how proud she was of them and welcomed paige.

And you think Prue would welcome the person replacing her??? Or tell her younger sisters that she's proud of them when they've gone against everything that they did when she was leading The Charmed Ones?? She would've given both sisters whatfor for forgetting about innocents and becoming selfish, self-centered b*tches who thought only of themselves and their families and no one else, totally different than the reason why Prue died. I don't think she's proud of any of them. That's probably why we never saw her.

very true esmerelda. she would have been pissed off from their selfishness. but i dont think that after 5 years she still would have been pissed off with paige. she is more mature than that. she would have seen that paige was needed. she would have seen paige grow as a witch and as a person.

if shannon had a cameo appearance as prue, and returned as angry at the girls for their selfcenteredness, and still indifferent with paige for replacing her after 5 years, she would just seem like an angry, cold and bitter ghost. Not the strong and mature witch she was remembered to be.

piper would return to her downward spiral making her feel guilty with having a family. she would again feel resentment for paige. this plot really does not have a nice ring to it.

obviously i can only speculate, but if i was a ghost and only had one chance to see the 2 sisters which meant everything to me, and my long lost sister who i never had the chance to meet, i would be more interested in expressing love and best wishes to them. not telling them everything they are doing wrong. even if i did believe they were not doing everything right.

i just wouldn't want prue to be remembered as bitter

I'll admit I'm wrong! I'm the cold, bitter fan and it was wrong to foist my own opinions onto Prue. I like to think that *IF* she could've return, she would've returned before her sisters went into this deep, dark spiral to the pyre. (I'll always insist that Forever Charmed--and probably the entire S8 season--is Piper's illusions as she burns on the pyre) and put them back on the right track. And if it was *that* soon, then, yes, I don't think she would've welcomed Paige--she probably would've thought the sisters would've done better without ever finding Paige, without Patty and Sam being able to make a child even tho Sam is dead (and if they couldn't, then Leo couldn't and two kids wouldn't have stolen the spotlight from those who should've had it--the Charmed Ones). With no Paige, there is no reconstituted Charmed Ones. With no reconstituted Charmed Ones there would be no reason for the Source (or Shax) to go after Piper and Phoebe, so Prue's sisters would've been safe and been able to have the normal life they'd want.

Not quite fair to blame Paige (better to blame Kern)--I'm sure Prue would've actually blamed her mother and by this point, she and her mother would've reconciled--but it's why I still don't think Prue would welcome Paige, because there's *NO* way she'd consider Paige her baby sister--Phoebe will always be that.

Why would any of you believe that Prue would never accept Paige as the baby sister? Why not? Piper and Phoebe eventually did. Paige is blood. I don't see why Prue would not eventually accept her.

Everyone keeps forgetting that Prue and Cole's relationship had improved after "Death Takes a Halliwell". After Cole stopped her from beating that Seeker to death and after he had volunteered to stop the Thorn Brotherhood from taking over that corporation in "The Demon Who Came in From the Cold". In fact, it was Piper who started becoming increasingly hostile toward Cole in late Season 3. I keep mentioning this, but it seems that many keep forgetting.

Yes, due to Paige being half-blood, you're right that Prue would probably eventually accept Paige as her *YOUNGER/YOUNGEST* sister. But baby?? Never. The sisters grew up with Phoebe as the baby and that's how Prue would always consider Phoebe. Especially because they didn't meet Paige until after she was fully-grown, I can't see Prue ever thinking of Paige that way.

Nor should Piper or Phoebe for the same reason. I couldn't believe that Patty would foist a fully-grown woman on them and try to make them think that this was their *baby* sister. To me that was *SO* out-of-character for Patty--it sounded more like Kern trying to get US to accept Paige for that reason.

Please don't take me wrong. Of the second set of Charmed Ones, Paige is my favorite (mainly due to the fact that I can't stand the other two!) But it has nothing to do with her being the baby. It has to do with how she took over for Prue in caring for innocents. It has to do with the fact that even when she was no longer an assistant social worker, she still acted like one. I would've preferred if they would've treated her as the only child that she was raised as rather than the Phoebe-wannabe that they did.

but i dont think she should ever have had her powers restored to her and somehow she returns to life. thats just TACKY. its a nice thought but there would be no real storyline.

I don't think they would have resurrected Prue as a full, living mortal witch.

But Prue would have retained her powers both in spirit form or if she was allowed to temporarily take corporeal form. Both Penny ("Happily Ever After," "Necromancing the Stone," "Witchstock," "Cheaper By The Coven") and Patty ("Just Harried," "Cheaper By The Coven") did.

Paige was never the BABY sister, she was the youngest, sure. she was never the BABY. even to piper. from season 4 onwards no one took the role of baby sister.

i wouldn't want prue to come back for more than an episode. i love shanon as an actress, but the show had a new dynamic, it was lighter and funnier (season 4 and 5 at least). to have prue return after season 4 would have made the character of prue seem out of place.

seasons 1-3 were less funny and alot darker per say.

also it would have slowed down the show. apart from the occasional mention, the girls had "moved on". (whether they were right to move on is another story) bringing prue back would seem like the story of charmed was going backwards. especially if that meant losing paige.

I believe that both Piper and Phoebe are on their way towards a future closer to that seen in "Morality Bites" and that they both end up burning on the pyre as Phoebe did, and that last season is Piper's fantasy as she burns.

It's the only thing that makes sense.
